Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sheri Arcuia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sheri, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I’ve aways had weird strings of bad luck or moments over the years and every time, the universe had a way of bringing humor into my situation so I have found a way to laugh at myself even in my darkest of moments. I have learned over the years that when you are willing to laugh at yourself in your worst, then there is enough spark left in you to keep fighting for what you want out of life. We always have two options in life: Sulk and ask why, or accept the challenge and ask why not?
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
During the pandemic in 2020, I watched the world crumble around me. It didn’t matter your race, status, financial wealth, religion or anything, we all in that year, suffered at the same level. The rug was pulled out from underneath all of us. I watched so much fear consume our daily lives where we were turning on each other, afraid of futures and falling into negative patterns, hurting ourselves and our mental states. I made a decision at work one night to change my mindset and try a different approach. Over the course of those couple hours, I personally watched every person in front of me change their tune and embrace the belief that things would get better. That was what started my brand, Master of Bad-Assery. I wanted to create a mindset that it doesn’t matter what is thrown at you, whether financially, romantically, family, relationships, jobs, personal health and wellness, that changing our mindset can change the trajectory of everything. I have lived my life with a positive mindset that all things are achievable if you can visualize and work small steps every day today to better yourself for tomorrow. My brand is growing from a couple t-shirts, to hats, hoodies, and a lot of other products and new designs. It’s slowly becoming a movement of like minded people who are ready to take control of their lives and put the work in to invest in themselves finally.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The best advice I would give is don’t be afraid to think big, even if it feels unobtainable. Make big goals and then make a list of smaller goals needed to get there. Visualize the exact results or achievements you want. Visualize what that looks like, feels like, smells like, looks like, etc. I would rather shoot for 100% and come out at 75%, than to think I am only capable of 75% and then only achieving 50%. Do not shortchange yourself. Do not ever doubt your abilities. It will not be easy and some days you will question everything, but your mindset in your darkest moments will always determine if and how you will come out of it. I know I have a nauseating positive attitude towards people but I am living proof that how you treat yourself will determine how others treat you. We live in a world full of commentary, judgement and criticism and it’s easy to get lost in the voices of strangers but when you get to a point where you area ready to drown them out and leave them in the distance than you truly realize the only opinion that will ever matter is the one in your reflection.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always looking for ways to collaborate and work with others for the common goal. When it comes to Master of Bad-Assery (M.O.B.A.), I love working with other small businesses in order to grow together and bounce ideas off of each other to lift each other up. I don’t believe I need to compete with others in similar fields, because there is always something for everyone and not everyone will resonate with my brand but if I can point them to others, then we all benefit from each other. I have people that reach out to do designs for us on what M.O.B.A. means to them, I work with small businesses on some of our products to build their business as well as mine. I am looking for a community of people.
