Meet FancyCPA

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Simone A Clarke, CPA also known as the FancyCPA, a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

FancyCPA, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My purpose and our firm’s mission is to educate our clients on how to strategize and utilize the tax codes to maximize their after-tax income. We recognized the limited access to qualified tax professionals who teach their clients tax strategies, and we had a desire to fulfill that need. We noticed that taxpayers and business owners had no basic understanding of their taxes, how they are calculated, and paid. So, my aspiration was to create a firm to be a resource that will inform, teach, and enlighten individuals and business owners on key tax strategies to enhance their success personally and professionally.

One major service that our firm offers that aligns with our firm’s mission is the opportunity for every client to have a one-on-one review of their tax return with a certified public accountant (CPA). This will allow every client the ability to review their return in detail with a tax professional, thereby eliminating any potential confusion, or misunderstandings about their return. More importantly the tax review meeting allows the taxpayer to prepare for the upcoming tax year to determine areas to maximize deductions and credits, and lower taxable income in the upcoming tax seasons.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions, we had for you?
I am extremely passionate about sharing information and knowledge with my peers and loved ones. I dislike hearing that someone made an unwise decision due to lack of information and knowledge about tax strategies and credit worthiness. In the world of finances and credit, where almost everything is based on your current financial standing, one bad decision can be devasting. Surprisingly, despite the importance of healthy money habits, this is an area that is not taught in schools.

I also truly enjoy saving my clients money. When I’m able to successfully assist my clients and save them thousands of their hard-earned money it truly warms my heart.

When I’m not being a tax nerd, I love spending time with my lovely family and my plants and flowers. Truly, I’m a lover of all beautiful things.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Determination. The desire to be my own boss.
The skills I learned, and the knowledge I gained from working in corporate America. I would encourage new graduates who are eager to jump into the financial arena to have an open mind, be willing to accept positive redirection, learn everything no matter how much of a challenge it may be and stay positive.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My biggest area of growth these past 12 months has been my cultural knowledge base. Having a plethora of clients from different races and cultures has enlightened my understanding and deepened my knowledge of the various and unique needs of people.
