We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sinthetic/Steelxvii a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sinthetic/Steelxvii, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
I’ve found that you can never truly grow tired of something you legitimately enjoy doing. Having a passion for something means continuing to do it through all walks of your life regardless of the circumstances.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I make music to help myself express emotion and connect with people that are similar. With my bipolar disorder I could never quite explain how I was feeling, that is until I started putting those feelings into my music. Whether it be love, hate, or pain I’ve found a very powerful outlet for all that I feel. However the best part of it all is knowing that people relate to my art and thoroughly enjoy it. My name is sinthetic and i have a new alternative song dropping 02/23/24 titled “dance dance”
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One of the many qualities needed to pursue a similar path to myself is consistency. Half the battle is starting yes, but the other half is continuing through all the trial and error. Dont let yourself get discouraged just because something isn’t perfect the first time or even the 10th time. It can take years and thousands of attempts to get where you wanna be with a job/skill so have patience and trust the process.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Being an independent artist has many struggles that come with it, the number one reason in my opinion being funds. Myself and many independent artist included unfortunately struggle with producing as much content as we potentially could due to money. When you’re paying for studio time, mixes, masters, promotion, videos, and distribution it gets expensive.
