Meet Sofia Ceballos y Spina

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sofia Ceballos y Spina. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sofia below.

Hi Sofia, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Ugh.. this is a complicated question. Since I feel that I am always in a process of healing my self-esteem and confidence. I feel like we are developing it all the time. Facing challenges that put us face to face with new versions that require the best of one.

At the age of 15, at a Catholic spiritual retreat, the parable of the talents caught my attention. And as one, by putting oneself at the service of others, one multiplies them and that produces a lot of fruit that is good and necessary for humanity.

Throughout my life I was a girl who compared herself a lot to other people’s talents. I’m even a very good flatterer of them. I like to detect them and tell the person how good they are in their talent and passion.
But I was never giving room to my talents.

I always weigh my sensitivity, my intuition, my emotionality a lot. I saw them as something negative my entire life, because exposing myself vulnerably put me at a disadvantage.

Until I understood that it wasn’t.
I don’t know if it happened from one moment to the next. It was quite a process.
Of acceptance, of taking risks, of playing. Always play.
Nowadays it terrifies me every time I have a new project, but… fake it until you make it. I remind myself that I am capable, and I try to see each new project that comes my way as something that will challenge me, make me grow, and make me explore new versions of myself.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a graphic designer and digital communicator. My greatest creative challenge is my life, learning to live it in interior and exterior freedom.
I’m from a very small and magical town in Argentina, surrounded by mountains.
I really enjoy walking through the mountains, gathering flowers, taking photos, dancing. I am passionate about stories, telling them and listening to them. I always seek to have an innocent look at life, to be able to be amazed and marvel at everything that surrounds us. Everything is a blessing.
I’m always looking for challenges, and over time I nurtured the courage that requires jumping into the void, and launching into those hunches that intuition guides.
2023 was a year of leaps, although looking back, I see that everything that happened to me in life prepared me for the woman I am today. From one moment to the next, due to staff reduction, I was separated from my job. And the next day I was buying a ticket to go to Spain to do the Camino De Santiago, a dream that I had very much in mind for the last 10 years of my life. Along the “camino”, I realized that I wanted to stay more in Europe, to live my European summer, so I went to an island in Croatia to work serving ice cream. An experience of great growth in adversity.
Today I returned to Argentina but always with my sights set abroad, I really like the cultural enrichment of working with others from other cultures. I want to be a designer with my sights set on building bridges with the world.
I currently work as a freelance graphic designer, on various projects such as editorial, prints, branding, social media and illustration.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Brave, be willing to listen to it, listen to our fears that have something to teach us.

Surrendering to change, which is giving us a great version of ourselves that is to come, only requires our openness to life.

Cultivate sensitivity, expand it, see it as an ally.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes! I’m looking for someone who needs my services as a graphic designer. But, all those projects that I make some impact with meaningful connections.
I’m interest about culture, spirituality, nature, climate change, education and arts.
