Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Steven Palivoda. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Steven, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
My passion is rooted in photography and with that being said, creativity is everything. People often have this assumption that revisiting places does not yield any new paths for creativity. However, having a trained eye for over twenty-four years makes all the difference. The focus becomes about finding the hidden gems and sharing my discoveries with the world. Previously visited locations hold a vast amount of value, especially at different parts of the day. How a town looks in daylight as opposed to nightfall could easily offer a whole new range of photos nobody imagined. The natural talent I have acquired over two decades continues to be my source of guidance. Making the unnoticed noticed is my motto. Creativity is everywhere and it is my mission to shine the light for the world to appreciate it.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Soulsnapshots Photography is my brand name. For me, my passion comes from the core of my being, and I pour all my energy into each photo I capture. There symbols used are a sword and shield; this is significant as artists are the true guardians of history. Without us, many stories would have been lost or never conveyed. In the near future, I plan on having my first formal art show. I currently sell my photography on my website. I cover many different areas, however, my specialty is in architecture. There are a great variety of sizes to choose from as well. I post regularly on Facebook and Instagram. The Facebook page is called: Soulsnapshots and for Instagram, my handle is: soulsnapshots21.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My willingness to try different techniques with my DSLR truly made a huge difference. On many occasions, it was about trial and error. I kept going until I got the result I wanted. Being self taught is the most impactful skill I have ever had on my journey. The rule for me was there were no rules; each moment was a learning experience and it made me much stronger. I only have one piece of advice for those who are the beginning of their path: Do not resist the challenges that will be thrown your way because at the end of the day, you will find yourself at the top of the mountain. Success is not accomplished overnight and once you accept that, nothing will be in your way.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Walks often are a great way to bring down high levels of stress. Being outside gives people fresh air. Given that photography is my passion, I go for a drive and take photos at a location I have been to before, especially if it has a great spot for a sunset. Call or hangout with friends whenever possible.
