We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stormie Steele. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stormie below.
Stormie, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Thank you Bold Journey, I appreciate this opportunity.
We misidentify ourselves through so many experiences: friends, family, academic social economic accomplishments; the negative, the positive, pain, joys, finances…you name it. I learned to cultivate self-confidence and self-esteem through the process of facing fears and through resisting the resistance to quit. The experience of childhood abuse made an enormous impact on my feelings of worth, self-esteem and purpose. It’s taken years to develop a solid sense of knowing, I am not bound to live by my experiences alone. Activating that reality as a living and personalized truth has been WORK, a continuous labor of love. “Physical heal thyself” ~Luke 4:23
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am the author of Life Through The Storm ~The Journey of Forgiveness and The Healing Journey (book series)—speaker, ordained minister, spiritual life coach and impassioned practitioner of the healing arts (artist, deep breathing, djembeist, meditation, prayer, sound healing practitioner, spoken-word expressionist, vocalist). I enjoy periods of quiet reflection and writing throughout my day.
Utilizing the aforementioned allows me to live beyond the impact of childhood abuse; it’s not an indication of forgetting—rather, a posture of BEING despite it. My walk with God, forgiveness and healing are primary factors in resurrecting the possibility of hope and wholeness. I’ve learned to BELIEVE I am loved. I’ve always been loved, despite circumstances that dictated otherwise, I will always be loved.
Life has a way of greeting us with the expected as well as the unexpected. Navigating this journey is an ebb and flow of constants—knowing and respecting what’s within my charge, releasing what’s not. Balancing that reality is a cycle of humble reminders and re-reminders (The Serenity Prayer). Healthy living is a series of rounds, an internal journey of reckoning.
In my business I focus on mind, body, spirit wellness—essentially facilitating what I live for emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing. Through speaking, coaching, journaling and mindfulness (other) as tools, clients are encouraged to design/engage regular practices assisting in promoting healthier lifestyles. I aspire to inspire personal and spiritual accountability.
One of the most exciting things about what I offer, witnessing others actively participate responsibly in their own healing. Reclaiming one’s sense of identity, purpose and wellbeing is more than a notion. It’s an investment so/sole/soul worth the journey!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities or skills I focus on are courage, love and self-respect.
It has taken me years to find my voice—to speak my voice, to appreciate my offerings and to freely move with gratitude/grace. One of my favorite scriptures alerts me of my soul role: “Counsel in the heart of is like deep water; but those of understanding will draw it out”. ~Proverbs 20:5
It takes courage maintaining authenticity in competitive environments where compromise seems to be the norm. Stabilizing autonomy and personal conviction is love and self-respect in action, no easy task. Being healthy (mind, body, spirit) is success. Personal alignment with these three skills or qualities are an overflow, an elixir for professional and relational health.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
As a spiritual life coach/counselor, an “ideal client” is an individual who is ready to dive in, getting to the core of their particular need (s). They are prepared to engage the sole role of living and being; holding the self accountable/responsible during the process of vacillating back and forth (retrieving, losing, answering, questioning, etc) through a host of concerns. “An ideal client” is ready to unlearn in order to learn.
As an author, drummer, performer, sound healing practitioner, speaker or vocalist; the “ideal client” leaves a session prompted and empowered to personalize a practice that centers them for daily living.
As an abstract artist, the “ideal client” connects with a piece of art before purchase—recognizing that connection as a crossroad, an undeniable synchronized portion to their continuing evolution of becoming.
