Meet Susanna Brooks

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Susanna Brooks. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Susanna , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from my grand parents (Alice & Clarance) we were taught at a young age never to give up no matter what comes in the way. When faced with any obstacles, sit back observe and approach with a open mind of with a YES I CAN! Never approach a situation with emotions.

I have seen my grandparents make miracles happen for us through some of the hardest times they were faced with.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the owner of Humble B’ginns LLC. Humble B’ginns LLC is a small owned black owned business based out of Sanford, FL. The vision of Humble B’ginns LLC is to provide protective styles and maintain healthy hair care.

Not only do I braid but I take the time to care for my clients hair! I have created my very own hair care Oils.

What excited me about this is when I see my clients results and just how much confidence they show.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking I would say my qualities skills were :

Taking time to understand each and every client. Every client is not coming in with the same hair texture and length.

Joining groups to learn from others, there is always knowledge out there

Taking constructive feedback so I can grow my company in the right way.

Having a small business is a everyday learning, and once you have a mindset of learning and accepting changes your business can stay on the path of growth not only financially but respectfully.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I have to admit I have a awesome team behind of me but there are 2 individuals that keeps me grounded and guides me to being a better business owner. I love having inspiration around me.
