The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
Being the only person in the room who looks like me has been a recurring experience throughout my journey. Growing up in Indiana and attending predominantly white schools, I can relate to the feeling of being the only person of color in many situations. However, I have learned valuable lessons along the way that have helped me be effective and successful even in such circumstances.
1. Embrace Your Uniqueness: Rather than feeling like an outsider, I have learned to embrace my uniqueness as a strength. I recognize that my diverse perspective and experiences bring a fresh and valuable perspective to the table.
2. Build Confidence: Confidence plays a crucial role in navigating spaces where you may be the only one who looks like you. I have worked on developing self-assurance by acknowledging my worth, skills, and accomplishments. Remembering my own value helps me overcome any self-doubt and ensures that my voice is heard.
3. Seek Allies and Support Networks: I actively seek out allies and build strong support networks both within and outside the spaces I operate in. Connecting with individuals who share similar experiences or allies who understand and appreciate diversity has been invaluable. They can provide encouragement, advice, and solidarity during challenging times.

As I reflect on my journey, I believe there were three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that had the most significant impact on my path:

I faced obstacles such as broken bottles and packaging mishaps, but I approached them as learning opportunities. 2. Continuous Learning and Improvement: The journey of entrepreneurship is a continuous learning experience.
