We were lucky to catch up with Syria Theus recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Syria, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose in the beginning of my modeling carrer and i wanted to show expel that no matter where you come from or what your background is, you can achieve whatever you wanna do in this life!! I found my other purpose after the unfortunate car accident i was in last year. I was in the hospital for 2 months and was left with intense scarring on my right leg. I relished that i needed to show others that are insecure about their scars that they can still be content creators or models as well!! I wanted to be what i didnt always have, i wanted to be the Pilar of light for those who only see darkness, an inspiration. I know it can get hard because its still so hard for me and some days are better than others but its really about putting that stuff aside to accomplish your goals and dreams!!
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am Syria Theus and as I said before, i am a fashion content creator and model. I’ve been modeling for 3 years and doing content creation seriously for about a year and some change. I’ve always had a passion for fashion as Bratz was one of my favorite cartoons growing up. But i really started getting into fashion content creation and taking it seriously last year after my original account (boujee.syria) was hacked in April 2023. One of my videos blew up some months later in November and then it’s been up from there!! I’ve done work with amazing brands and music videos with amazing people. I’m just blessed to be at the stage of my life where im at.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three main qualities that have impacted me the most in my content creating journey would be determination, consistency, and creativity. I think these three have impacted my content bc even though i deal with burnout and things in my daily life that sometimes makes me wanna stop completely, I remember my purpose and that gives my the drive to stay consistent. I also am just Avery creative person, I’ve always had a HUGE love for art and I find fashion as a way to express yourself creatively through clothes.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
I as a micro-influencer do tend to get a lot of PR and with that they usually have a deadline of 2 weeks. On top of that, i also still do work a regular job and have to plan out content and style outfits, along with taking time for myself so it definitely can get very overwhelming. Usually when im faced with the feeling of burnout and feeling overwhelmed, i try to give myself a break and take a step back. I do some self care and then when im ready, retrace my steps and start try to organize how im gonna go things better so that that way, i can accomplish what i gotta do in a more organized manner.
