Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Taj McGill. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Taj, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding your purpose is a journey! Once I graduated from The Art Institute and worked in various capacities within the Fashion Industry, I was on a mission to uncover what made me feel alive, helped others, and pleased God. I birthed South Florida Fashion Academy, the exact type of school that I needed as a teenager. The students that are able to graduate with a high school diploma and degree/certification, our community impact, and countless people that benefit from South Florida Fashion Academy lets me know that I have indeed found MY PURPOSE.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am the Founder and Owner of South Florida Fashion Academy, South Florida’s FIRST of its kind Private Dual Enrollment Middle and High School. Students can obtain their Diploma, Degree, and/ or State License upon graduation. SF/FA will prepare students for professional excellence in Art, Business, Fashion, and Beauty through rigorous and adaptable academic programs, experiential learning, and ingenious partnerships. Programs are designed for students to enter their post- secondary option with advanced knowledge or the ability to infiltrate the preferred industry having entrepreneurial skills.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Resilience, Confidence, and Integrity are three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey. Challenges are inevitable in business and personally. However, you must be determined to overcome adversity. Confidence will allow you to not be defined by other’s opinions and acting with honor and being committed to do what you said you would do will always be effective in business relationships.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My parents were instrumental in my character development and determination to be successful. The most impactful thing my parents did was to allow me the opportunity to flourish despite being a teen mother.
