Meet TAMOONA

We recently connected with TAMOONA and have shared our conversation below.

TAMOONA, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found my purpose through singing. Something that I never knew I could do but circumstances brought me to this unexpected journey.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is TAMOONA. I am originally from the Country of Georgia, raised in New Jersey. I am a singer/songwriter who was brought up in the music world. My father was a successful singer in Georgia whose career spanned over decades. So, music always surrounded me since I was a child. However, I never aspired to be a singer or have any music career. My music journey started very unexpectedly and quickly. Only two years ago I was discovered by SSM Nashville record label and signed with them this year. SSM released my first debut single BULLETPROOF last year and it reached the 20th spot on the Main Country Chart, which was incredible, as I am so new to the music world. Recently we released my second song TRY. It is doing incredible because it is resonating with so many people. We also just released a music video for TRY, which can be viewed on SSM Nashville YouTube channel. Now we are working on my first album and I cannot wait to see how it turns out. I am so blessed to work with the most amazing people in this business, and I cannot wait to see how my music career will evolve.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most impactful knowledge I acquired was just being surrounded with music and watching my dad with his singing career. Going to the studio with him and learning ins and outs of recording and creating music, not realizing that one day I would use this knowledge in my singing career.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My biggest area of growth in 12 months was just working on my singing. The more I sing the better I get at my craft. I like to listen to my recordings and correct myself on what to do or not to do. Also vocal cords are like instruments, the more I use it, the better it gets. It’s all a learning process which never stops.
