We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tangier Wallace a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tangier , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I personally struggled with finding my purpose for a long time. I journaled about it, spoke to people about it and to only become aware that my purpose has always been in me and right in front of me. I’ve always had a passion for helping others, I always envisioned myself writing, and I was always great at giving advice to others. When I look back everything I ever done was purposeful, although at the time I didn’t realize it. In my career, I am performing every task mentioned above as well as in my personal life. Finding your purpose requires reflection, self-awareness and exploration. I began the inner work on myself. I reflected on what mattered to me the most in my life, what I stand for and what I wanted to achieve. When I explored all of these things they were all in alignment of helping women and wanting women to become their best selves. At one point in my life, I had felt so low and had allowed others to dictate who I was by not standing up for myself. I never liked conflict and therefore to avoid it, I would just agree to let things flow. Internally it affected my self esteem and everything that makes me, Me! I took a stand on my life and decided that I was going to do everything that excites me and make me feel alive. This led me to starting my own Women Support Group Eloquently Spoken. I am currently going into 4 years of business and being able to watch not only my life but other women lives transform has been blissful. Once I recognized my natural abilities, skills and talent I have been able to succeed in the work that I do, which is to provide support, encouragement and the uplifting of others. In order to be successful at what I do, I had to understand how relatable I was to the women I am servicing. As women, we all have a story of resilience and should not be afraid to speak our truths. Those are the very things that influences our path. As I reflect on the experiences and moments that shaped my life I am able to explore more possibilities. I am able to try new things, take more risks and venture into different opportunities that resonate with me. I now pay more attention to my intuition, those inner voices and gut feelings that guides me towards my purpose in helping others. I’ve spent my whole life helping others and now its my main source of happiness. Finding my purpose was a personal journey. I had to be patient with myself and embrace all things that came along with the discovery process. I am continuously revamping my brand, evaluating my progress and making adjustments as I go. I know that we are forever evolving and therefore we will forever be making changes. Nevertheless, your purpose is within you and it will never fade because your purpose is what makes you,YOU!
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
HI, My name is Tangier Wallace and I am the CEO/founder and passionate force behind Eloquently Spoken Women Support Group. I’ve made it my mission to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for women to express themselves. I am dedicated to the encouragement and uplifting of women in the community. When I’m not working on Eloquently Spoken you can catch me writing, reading, having some Me time and spending quality time with my family. And in the midst of it all, I’m probably still working on Eloquently Spoken. I love what I do and hope that we have many others who care to join us on this inspiring journey. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most impactful qualities, skills or areas of knowledge in my journey is Communication as this is a major element in having a Women support group. Being able to effectively communicate with others without offense, conveying ideas and facilitating properly in meetings. Also emotional intelligence, another key factor as empathy and understanding is necessary in building connection with others. And lastly Creativity, being able to create new topics and imposing different perspectives allows new possibilities and solutions. By combining these three skills you can make a meaningful impact on others. It allows the possibility of problem solving and personal growth. The advice I would give to others who are early in the journey is to evaluate what is needed amongst the people they are servicing and enhance in the skills needed to help them. What people want to know is how you can help solve their whatever issue it is their having and you need to be prepared to suggest what may benefit them.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am looking into collaborating with Women who are interested in the mental wellness of women. Women who are inspired and have a passion for encouraging, supporting and uplifting women. If you are looking to join forces to bring together collective creativity, a passion to supporting women in achieving their dreams, building their strengths and unlocking their fears, then I would be intrigued and eager to share our visions to help in the continued growth of Women in the community.
