Meet TARINA HODGES

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful TARINA HODGES. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with TARINA below.

TARINA , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
In situations where I’m the only one in the room who looks like me, I’ve learned to view it as an opportunity. Confidence in my self-worth is key, allowing me to stay true to my beliefs while actively listening to others. Building relationships, educating colleagues about different perspectives, and continuous learning are all part of my strategy. I also see myself as an ambassador for diversity and inclusion, fostering a more inclusive environment. I’ve honed my ability to handle biases constructively and maintain a positive attitude. Being the only one in the room has reinforced my commitment to diversity and inclusion, making me a more adaptable and effective professional.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m the founder of Pepper’s Hotdogs, where we’re redefining the hotdog experience by remixing classics with global flavors. What sets us apart is our commitment to transforming everyday moments into extraordinary culinary adventures. Pepper’s is not just about food; it’s about building a diverse community of food enthusiasts who celebrate the joy of adventurous eating and meaningful connections.

Our brand thrives on innovation, introducing fresh menu items, and exploring new culinary horizons. What excites me is the opportunity to continuously evolve and expand our presence. We have exciting plans, including securing a unique storefront unlike anything else, which will allow us to serve our one-of-a-kind hotdog creations in a more immersive and inviting setting. Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this exciting journey!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back on my journey, I’ve found three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge to be exceptionally impactful. Firstly, creativity has been a driving force. The ability to think beyond the norm, to innovate, and to consistently develop exciting hotdog creations has set us apart. To those embarking on their own journeys, I’d encourage them to nurture their creativity. Embrace fresh perspectives and don’t shy away from experimentation; it’s often where the magic happens.

Secondly, resilience has been absolutely key. Entrepreneurial paths are rarely smooth, and setbacks are inevitable. However, resilience is what keeps you moving forward. My advice is for those starting out to build their resilience. Stay unwavering in your vision, seek support from a strong network, learn from failures, and keep pushing toward your goals.

Lastly, community building has been transformative. It’s not just about selling a product; it’s about creating a sense of belonging and fostering a loyal customer base. For those in the early stages of their journey, I’d stress the importance of community building. Engage with your audience, listen to their feedback, and nurture genuine connections. These qualities and skills have been instrumental in my journey and can serve as guiding principles for others seeking success.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Absolutely, collaboration is a cornerstone of our journey at Pepper’s Hotdogs. We’re always open to partnering with like-minded individuals or businesses who share our passion for innovative cuisine and community building. We’re particularly interested in collaborating with local artisans, food suppliers, and event organizers who align with our mission.
