Meet Tequilla Nicole

We recently connected with Tequilla Nicole and have shared our conversation below.

Tequilla, thank you so much for making time for us. We’ve always admired your ability to take risks and so maybe we can kick things off with a discussion around how you developed your ability to take and bear risk?
Since I was a child I’ve always been one to dance to the beat of my own drum. I never wanted to do what everyone else was doing which enabled me to take risks and fulfill my curiosity. I love to learn and explore new things and without taking risks I never would have started a business. Risk is usually viewed as a bad thing but to me it is trying something new and if it doesn’t work out that means try another way or try something else.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
T. Nicole is my handbag design line that I started in 2016 to offer quality, stylish and functional leather handbags for money-conscious fashionistas without sacrificing their high-end taste.

My mission is to create a brand that is synonymous with quality, style, and freedom through the design of timeless classics that maintain the highest standards of excellence while going against the norms of society.

Having the ability to take a concept I designed in my head and to bring it to fruition is what I love about what I do. I also love the process of selecting the leather, fabrics, zippers, and other embellishments that add style to T. Nicole’s handbags. It’s really like a dream fulfilled and as a dreamer I love what I do.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are:

My thirst for knowledge;
My work ethic; and
My tenacity

When you are doing something that most people won’t do or can’t do you get a lot of naysayers but you have to believe in yourself and be very resourceful. I’ve been told numerous times that I couldn’t start a handbag design line because I didn’t have the money, connections, or the experience. But the qualities instilled in me wouldn’t allow me to quit. With that I say always be willing to make a way out of no way and stay consistent.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
My greatest challenges in my business are building brand awareness for T. Nicole, differentiating my brand from others, and creating credibility and trust for my brand.
