Meet Terayle Garnett

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Terayle Garnett. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Terayle below.

Terayle, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I realized a long time ago that I’m on my own timeline. I see people judging themselves based on what others have or don’t have. I thought to myself, “I’m going to create my own story. I’m on my own path, and no one will ever do things the way I do.” I want to be a role model for others and have them see the real me and the human in me.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I recently started my consulting business. I’ve assisted musicians and people from all walks of life with various issues. Since I was already a certified life coach, I decided to use my skills to start this business. I offer a range of services including life coaching, artist development, music consulting, project management, and keynote speaking. I’ve also created books and journals to help with everyday life, especially for those who can’t afford a life coach. Coming from a modest background, I wanted to create something that could help people, which led me to the concept of “Create Your Own Story.” I believe that you can be whoever you want to be in life, so why not just be yourself and create the life you want? That’s where I come in to help. Additionally, I have a podcast with the same name where I feature musical guests and play their music. What makes my podcast unique is that I welcome anyone to be a guest and share their story.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
When it comes to what I do, my curiosity and passion have been my biggest strengths. You can’t really be taught that kind of drive – it’s all about believing in yourself. I’ve been told I have a natural charisma and a way with words, but above all, I’m known for being straightforward. Some folks might say I’m too blunt, but that’s just how I am. I’m not afraid to speak my mind, even if it’s what everyone else is thinking.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
I always find myself trying to be there for everyone else and neglecting my own needs. It’s been a lifelong struggle, but I’ve only recently realized how many people rely on me without considering that I also need a break. It’s not that I’m saying “figure it out yourself,” but I need to prioritize taking care of myself. I’m learning to refill my own cup when it gets low because no one else is doing it for me. It’s a work in progress, but I’m focusing on being there for myself just as much as I am for everyone else.
