Meet The Vig Arcadia

We were lucky to catch up with The Vig Arcadia recently and have shared our conversation below.

The Vig, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Each of us is a creative so just like any other, we constantly need an outlet otherwise we might malfunction! This naturally comes out as song material. Whether it’s in the shower, in the car, or in the middle of the night, we’ve all had to quickly get to our phones to create a voice note so we don’t forget those random bursts of creative ingenuity. Our real life, emotion-filled, experiences do often create our best music though.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
The Vig, is a Detroit based Rock band. We just released one of our greatest songs to-date, “It’s You”. It’s an end-of-summer, love song. We’re now working on our very first full-length Album and can’t wait to share that with you next year! We are thrilled to achieve this milestone, and finally share our fully-developed, unique sound. While we create modern-day rock music, you’ll hear glimpses of our individual, musical backgrounds: blues, pop, funk, and many more.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Individuality, Trust & Persistence. Often, others will try to change you to fit their mold or idea of what they want you to be. Sticking to what comes naturally to you will give you that edge, individuality and set you apart from the rest. If you try to be like everyone else, it won’t be interesting or worth entertaining. And when it gets hard, it can be easy to go against your intuition and stop trusting yourself or the process. The “little voice inside your head” is there for a reason so don’t veer from what you know and feel is right. Lastly, you can’t stop. Every day has to be a choice to continue doing what you’re doing, or you will never make it there. Oh and by the way, no one is going to help you get there or encourage you every step of the way. When those days come of feeling defeated or tired, you have to want it bad enough to persist.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Always!!! We love learning from others like us, and very different from us. There’s nothing more invigorating than creating music with others or being in the presence of that process! We are constantly looking for other talented folks out there to play shows with and would love to connect with new people! Our website has our contact information.
