Meet THOMAS MEYERS

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful THOMAS MEYERS. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with THOMAS below.

THOMAS, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I believe I got my work ethic from my time in the military. I served 22 years in the United States Air Force which taught me discipline, time management and so many other important qualities. I required to always stay ready to serve 24 hours a day and 365 days a year until it was time for me to take the uniform off for the last time. Resilience and work ethic was forever ingrained in me, so starting a small business was challenging, but not discouraging. Every time I failed or made a mistake I learned from it and grew from every experience.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I design apparel that are influenced by New Mexico, Black History, Pop Culture and Christianity. This is special because it is a fulfilling feeling when people that I don’t know illustrate their love for my products. It’s amazing that something I created is good enough for total strangers to spend their hard earned money to purchase. I started off with just t-shirts, but I have expanded to v-necks, tank tops, long sleeves, hoodies, stickers and tote bags and the results are very profitable. We are always looking for new ways to expand our products and reach out to new customers. Our business is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico and we are slowly gaining recognition in the city. This year we have already been invited to over 15 events to share our brand and reach new customers. We are planning to apply for bigger events in different cities to expand our reach, continue to grow this year and be a more effective presence with our online store.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Resilience, discipline and work ethnic are three things that are important in the success that I am having up to this present time with my business. So many times, I wanted to give up, but then I didn’t. I worked harder and that drive to be successful continued to burn inside of me. I truly believed that I could make my dreams a reality if I continued to work hard. If you believe in your dream, then go after it. Don’t let anyone tell that you can’t do something. You may be the only person to believe in your dream and that is all you need….just one! It will not be easy because if it was easy, then everyone would be doing it. Stay confident in yourself and stay diligent!

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The Bible played an important role in everything that I do. I have gained so much wisdom, knowledge, patience, compassion and so many other attributes that helped mold me to a productive human being on this earth.
