Meet Thy Nguyen

We recently connected with Thy Nguyen and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Thy, so excited to have you with us today, particularly to get your insight on a topic that comes up constantly in the community – overcoming creativity blocks. Any thoughts you can share with us?
I overcome Creativity blocks by occasionally writing down my thoughts and through my captions on social media

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I work as an Account Coordinator on the Influencer team at CLD PR. Everything about working in fashion PR has been exciting to me so far! From working on accounts and pitching fashion brands to working events and making connections, every day is new and different. I’ve wanted to work in the fashion industry since I was younger and I’m so grateful that I’m able to live out my dreams!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities, skills or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey include determination, love for writing and fashion and being social.

A piece of advice I have for people who are early in their journey is to take your time figuring out what you want to do. That way, by the time you’re looking for a full time job, you don’t settle. While the job market is tough, it’s important to be flexible, patient and be able to pivot sometimes in order to reach your career path. However, make sure that the steps you’re taking are still in line with your passions and what you want to do in life. If you realize down the line that your interests have changed, that’s ok too! That’s what college and internships are for! Most internships and jobs in this day and age are found through the connections you make and networking.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I try to write everything down and plan every step and detail as much as I can. It helps to have it in front of you and strategize what the best course of action is. A piece of advice I have for people who are feeling overwhelmed is to breathe and take it one step at a time. It will all work out! Don’t get too caught up and make sure you’re enjoying the experiences in life.
