Meet Tiera Turner

We recently connected with Tiera Turner and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiera, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Some tell me it takes a lot to be an advocate for my children, but it really doesn’t. Being their voice, when they sometimes lack, has made me walk in the light. I have to be a vessel for my boys, they deserve that. They push me and motivate me to remain confident in what I’m doing because it has to be done; someone has to do the work!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Promoting Independence, Responsibility , Generational Wealth, Autism Awareness, and a Structured Routine. In October of 2019, co-owner of the Vend Bro’s was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Those with Autism (ASD) usually function better with a structured routine.

Once Covid hit, our plans had changed in regards to pursing the vending machine business. Covid opened up our eyes to the lack of inclusiveness and resources for the autism community around us. In 2020 we had our 1st Annual Autism Awareness Walk in honor of MyKail. We have since grown our community and host children pop ups, community events, parent play & support meet ups, & so much more! We are constantly striving to bring autism awareness and acceptance to the city of Detroit!

Now’ we are on the pursuits of opening the first Autism Inclusive Play Gym in the city of Detroit! We noticed the lack of resources within the city of Detroit already, but coming across the We Rock the Spectrum franchise was divine. We are currently fundraising to help obtain this goal!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe remaining transparent, openminded, and firm has taken me far as an advocate. To be a proud autism parent, it takes sharing your story so others know they are not alone. Being openminded helps when there are so many perspectives and we all just want to be heard out. And lastly, standing firm and standing up for my children, always . Can never be afraid to go to bat for my children!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, we are looking for donations from any and all who would love to support! We are also looking to partner with local children play places and general children activities to bring the proper awareness and autism acceptance into more organizations!
