Meet Tierney Robb

We were lucky to catch up with Tierney Robb recently and have shared our conversation below.

Tierney, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I wouldn’t say I’ve completely conquered imposter syndrome, but I’ve definitely gotten better at quieting that voice in my head that whispers, “You’re not good enough.”

Being in a field where there’s no standard for a resume- no degree for “content creation” or “brand partnerships”—can be intimidating. We’ve all gotten to this public space on the internet from insanely different backgrounds and skill sets. So comparing myself to other creators is like trying to compare apples to oranges; it just doesn’t make sense!

My journey has been especially unique. I started with a luxury picnic business, and now I’m transitioning into content creation that ties into my intimate events. So why would I compare myself to someone else when no one else is on the exact same journey as me?

Every step I take is mine alone, filled with my experiences and lessons. And when I remind myself of that, it’s like a weight lifts off my shoulders. We all have our distinct backgrounds and stories, and that’s what makes us special. So instead of measuring myself against others, I focus on celebrating my progress and the uniqueness of my path.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I decided to start a luxury picnic business a little over a year ago when I was craving a creative outlet, outside of being a stay at home mom. It was the perfect way to combine my love for creating beautiful scenes with the flexibility I needed to be home.

I kicked off an Instagram to promote my picnics, but let’s be real—picnics can get a bit repetitive, right? So, I started sharing the dinner parties I hosted with my girlfriends. I wanted to show that there’s so much more you can do with a beautiful setup beyond just eating good food.

One of my reels went viral and that moment opened up a whole new world for me. Suddenly, I was not only sharing picnic ideas but also diving into dinner party and adult friendship content. I found myself exploring brand partnerships and affiliate linking—all things I never expected when I started this journey. And I’ve now created a dinner party guide: Redefining Hosting for the Modern Girl, which gives my best tips and tricks for hosting in today’s chaotic world, including two years worth of dinner party menu and activity ideas! I’m even selling my digital invitations as editable templates on Etsy.

I’m incredibly grateful that new doors have opened for me and that I’m able to do what I love while connecting with others and building a community around shared experiences.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
**1. Bravery** I dove into small business meet-ups and hopped on IG stories, even when only twenty people were watching. It took a lot of bravery to ignore that nagging voice questioning what others might think. My advice? Share your journey, even if it feels uncomfortable. The more you do it, the easier it gets. Remember, everyone starts somewhere, and your authenticity will resonate with others.

**2. Perseverance**
When I launched my picnic business, I had this expectation that bookings would come flooding in. Spoiler alert: they didn’t. I only booked one picnic in the first three months! It was discouraging, but I didn’t give up. I kept promoting my brand and found creative ways to share my story. My advice here is to connect with other business owners. Collaborate, problem-solve, and brainstorm together. Sometimes, just talking to someone who gets it can spark new ideas and motivate you to keep going.

**3. Adaptability**
While this might be a bit of a stretch, I believe adaptability has been crucial in my journey. As my focus shifted from picnics to dinner parties and adult friendship content, I had to embrace change and evolve my brand. For those early in their journey, be open to pivoting. Listen to your audience and watch what resonates. Sometimes, the path you envision may lead to something even more beautiful if you’re willing to adapt.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
One of the biggest challenges I face is time management. As a stay-at-home business mom with three daughters, it often feels like I’m juggling a million things at once. Between caring for my girls and trying to film content or schedule phone calls, finding dedicated time to focus on my business can be really tough.

I often find myself just trying to keep up with daily tasks, when what I really want is to plan ahead and build my brand more strategically. It’s so easy to get caught in the whirlwind of the day-to-day, especially when the kids need my attention. But I remind myself that this phase of life is short-lived.

I’m learning to embrace the chaos while also carving out small pockets of time for my business. Whether it’s early mornings or late nights, I try to find those little windows to work on my goals. It’s all about balance, and I know that with perseverance and a little creativity, I can make it work.
