We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tiffany Brown a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffany, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I draw my resilience from a deep wellspring within me, nurtured by a lifetime of experiences, challenges and lessons. Resilience is rooted in the unwavering support of my loved ones who have taught me the importance of perseverance. Every obstacle I’ve encountered has been a stepping stone, shaping my character and fortifying my spirit. My resilience is also forged through self-discovery, as I’ve learned to embrace setbacks as opportunities for growth. It’s a fusion of determination, adaptability, and an unyielding belief in my own capacity to weather any storm. This well of resilience empowers me to face adversity with courage and emerge stronger, ready to conquer whatever life may present.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a cosmetology school owner playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of aspiring beauty professionals. I am responsible for creating an environment where students can learn and hone their skills in various beauty and cosmetic services, including lash extensions, makeup artistry, skincare, and more. What’s truly exciting and special about being a cosmetology school owner is the opportunity to inspire and nurture the next generation of talented individuals. It’s a chance to witness the transformation of students into skilled professionals who can bring out the beauty in others, boosting their confidence and self-esteem. My role involves curriculum development, ensuring quality education, and fostering a supportive community that encourages creativity and innovation. Guiding students toward fulfilling careers in the dynamic world of cosmetology brings a sense of fulfillment and pride, making this role both rewarding and uniquely impactful. iLash Beauty University is always looking for ways to grow. We created Chic Glow LLC which is in the process of launching high quality beauty products for everyday needs of beauty professionals. Also launching is a our Trouble shooting lash book. We are excited to serve and help others grow.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I’d have to say Precision and Attention to Detail – In the lash business, precision and attention to detail are paramount. The ability to carefully apply lashes, ensuring they are symmetrical and flawless, is essential for client satisfaction. This skill not only enhances the aesthetics of your work but also contributes to the longevity and comfort of the lash extensions.
Customer Service and Communication-Building strong relationships with clients through excellent customer service and clear communication is key. Being able to understand their preferences, provide professional advice, and address any concerns helps create a positive and loyal client base. Effective communication also extends to explaining aftercare instructions for lash maintenance.
Safety Practices -A deep understanding of hygiene and safety protocols is critical in the lash business. Knowledge of proper sanitation, sterilization, and using high-quality, hypoallergenic materials demonstrates professionalism and ensures the well-being of your clients. This expertise fosters trust and confidence in your lash services.
Business Management and Marketing- Acquiring knowledge in business management, including pricing strategies, inventory management, and scheduling, is vital for sustainability. Additionally, understanding marketing techniques, both online and offline, can help you reach a wider audience, increase brand visibility, and attract new clients .
These qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge contribute to a successful and thriving business, which can be applied to any business allowing me to deliver exceptional results and cultivate a strong reputation within the beauty industry.
My advice is to invest in comprehensive training and education specific to your business. Look for reputable courses, workshops, or certifications that cover a range of techniques and styles.
Stay updated with industry trends and advancements through online resources, webinars, and industry publications.

Practice consistently to refine your skills. Practice active listening with clients to understand their preferences and concerns.Take notes to personalize future sessions and show your dedication to their satisfaction.
