Meet Tony Gonzalez

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tony Gonzalez.Tony G to many . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Tony with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

It’s the core of who , what , how or where I am today. My daily affirmation is “Keep It Movin “. and my work ethic is my core strength . As far back as I can remember. I was always that guy who was passionate and ready to go . My father’s integrity , grit and style has been instrumental in how valuable my work ethic can be.
Watching his consistency and pride of how he took care of our family ,moved , worked , handled and achieved . Has motivated me and inspired me to maintain my work ethic daily and always . IYKYK that is who I am.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Sometimes I’m categorized as a Renaissance man .As well as the guy who can be counted on to get the job done . I’m just Tony G . My focus is to educate, inspire challenge and remain creative in the space I have been given the opportunity to work in for over 3 decades.
Whether it is an artistic project , straight up business project , a classic meeting or non – profit  organization meeting . Remaining professional and available is my key to success .
The Entertainment business sometimes can chew you up and spit you out . The outcome is usually that people quit .
I invite that process above daily because it gives me thicker skin , continues to keep me balanced and allows my longevity to soar .
Working in TV , Film, Commercials , Music Video , Stage and more . Has been an exciting journey and process for many decades . The consistency and pride I take to stay motivated , ready and relevant is how I keep my business “Me “ thriving .
Whether I’m Casting for a project , Creating movement for the moment , working in the world of dance or just branding who I am . Work ethic and common sense continues to be how I expand and remain current .
My work ethic , work and resume truly speaks for itself .

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Early on in my profession, I was challenged with many new skills, ideas, avenues, and peoples different interpretations of how to move and work properly were thrown at me. It was like pin the tail on the donkey, being blindfolded, and not knowing where it will stick or what the outcome would be .
I look back and remember that the only way that I would be impactful with my own journey was to be a chameleon, listen, and follow through and 100% be me. Take the blinders off and work and observe the room .
Those traits and the knowledge I learned and continue to learn, is why my journey is still in a process. I’m continuing growing , learning and achieving. Knowing that anything and everything is attainable. Just open your eyes
My advice I tend to give daily and pretty much anytime that I have an opportunity to speak. Whether you are new, been around for a minute, or have been around longer than you could have imagined. Good or bad, positive or negative. You have the ability to always change the outcome. Absorb as much information you can in any contact that you create in your journey. Ring out, what you don’t need and keep the rest in the vault. To allow your worth, mind and your imagination to continue to explore and develop. Understand how to be available and present by listening before speaking. More importantly. Remember that it is OK to be ignorant. Never find shame in learning and growing even if it’s something new or something old.. The true scale is how to teach yourself to listen, follow through, make mistakes and show up.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

I tend to believe that the number one obstacle that continues to stay persistent and is challenging in my career. Is how to remind the entertainment industry we are more than just steps and counts .We are Creative Directors , Artistic Directors, Choreographer’s, Assistants,Dancers and all Associates. I am all the titles above and more.

Entertainment industry is fickle, and chooses to have a hierarchy most of the time.
I tread lightly sharing the information because I always want to see the positive growth and what the outcome can possibly be.
It’s hard to see a creative space always put at the bottom of a totem pole. The profession that I’m in tends to be pushed down and only necessary at the last minute. We are  always pushing up to stay current , relevant and involved amongst our peers and colleagues. Making sure we stay on their minds and in their space . We need to be seen , to be heard and be recognized.
My job is to stay focused on not how quick we resolve these many issues, but how to be a voice that is always encouraging, motivating and lifting some of the voices that can’t do it for themselves, or are afraid to embark on anything that might feel or be confrontational.
I truly standby. You can always overcome many  obstacles if you speak your voice and show up.Representation counts.
