We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tony Wright a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tony, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
It’s funny that you would ask me about purpose. I started in my career mindset very late in life. I knew from a young age I loved television and music but I realized where I come from in South Carolina there are not a lot of people who make it in the industry. At 25 years old I had to ask myself a question how would I become successful after the military? See I was taught to survive and not live in my dreams. I found my purpose when going back to college I knew I could be successful in the streaming services industry.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I started a company called Cia Media Production because we were seeing the same content being created. I asked myself if someone should fix that so I started. The stories that were created were because when I was young I hated reading because I had dyslexia and made it hard for me feel confident unless I was working on a project on set. In South Carolina, unless you wanted to work in the news then other entertainment was not an option.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My persistence is something I will never give up I pray a lot. I also realize I have to understand my faith is important. I have a creative lifestyle and I realize to stay true to myself.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
We are looking for collaborators in producers and also actors who truly passionate. Our projects are not the norm but are real projects.
