Meet Tonya Trvn

We were lucky to catch up with Tonya Trvn recently and have shared our conversation below.

Tonya, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
Remember that sometimes feeling the want or need to represent your entire community can be overwhelming… especially when you’re placed in leadership role. However, one can strive to being your authentic self and sharing their own unique perspective. This can contribute to a more inclusive and diverse environment.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am an individual driven by a profound love for the arts and crafts, a passion that has been with me since my earliest years. Throughout my life, I have diligently pursued various creative avenues, including culinary arts and music. From house to EDM, hip hop to classical, I derive great pleasure from exploring diverse music genres and have been fortunate enough to engage in significant collaborations with renowned artists, partnering with prestigious brands such as Adidas. Additionally, I actively create my own music, finding it both enjoyable and therapeutic, serving as a creative outlet that offers respite from my military involvement in political affairs.

One of the most captivating aspects of my brand is the opportunity to forge partnerships with others, and I am particularly excited about our collaboration at the Grand Prix. Overall, Overall, I find immense joy and fulfillment in tapping into my creativity and bringing unique ideas to life.

Allow me to offer you one last nugget of wisdom: Grant yourself the grace to forgive yourself for what you did during survival mode.

In all honesty, I don’t focus entirely on work and business. I am just a firm believer that there is so much more to life than dragging yourself in work constantly. Amidst the boundless demands of work, it is crucial to recognize that life itself is ephemeral and fleeting. Therefore, it becomes all the more imperative to invest our precious time in the embrace of our loved ones. Life is a finite and transient existence, bound by the limitations of time and mortality.

It’s important that I have a healthy work-life balance with friends and family. This is so important to me regardless of anything I have going on in my life. After all, what purpose does relentless toil serve if it means sacrificing meaningful engagement with our nearest and dearest? To me, what’s the point of working 24/7..is it for your family? The family you don’t get to see? Sometimes that family member is a 5 year old. Is that the life I want to put myself or my loved ones through? No, not really. Health work-life balance is key.
