We recently connected with Torrey Hair and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Torrey , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from experience of life. Each obstacle that I’ve endured always came with a lesson that I needed to learn in order to progress to the next level. And then there some lessons I already learned, but I just didn’t want move on from.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As of right now I am assistant store manager. The benefits I love about being one is that I am learning how to manage a store of my own with the help of team members and that is going to help me in the long run in running my own business, currently my store manager is out on maternity leave so I’m running the show. I have plans on running my own business in the Fashion industry. Sketching, designing and making my own clothes for women. It’s always been a passion for me! I’ve always had a talent in being creative and projecting my vision so that people can see what I see. I’ve always been told if you have a talent don’t let it go to waste, because once its gone its gone. I also have a passion in doing modeling. It never fails when I’m out either at the grocery store, gas station, or wherever I always get asked ” Are you a model? ” ” I think I seen you in a magazine somewhere for someone advertisement! “. I decided to give that a try, reach out to some professional photographers, set up some appointments to take some photos, and post them and the ending result has become promising lol!!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most impactful qualities I would definitely would say about me that I developed is Humble, Discernment, and resilience. No matter where you go in life, never forget where you came from and never forget the people that helped you along your journey, whether they be good, bad or indifferent. Same thing goes for life lessons. It helps to keep you grounded. Discernment is something that I always had in me, but now that I am older and have a more spiritual connection with God it I am able to judge more well.. Especially in whatever career you are trying to be in I feel as though it is most important to have that, because people will for sure try to play in your face like you was born yesterday!! Resilience has always been my one of my best quality. No matter how hard I’ve fallen or how hard it has been, no matter what I always bounced back. I always found and made a way to overcome any obstacle that has came my way. I went through the fire and came out as pure gold! bigger and better. I say this to see these are the qualities to have. it builds your character and pushes you to do better. I encourage all that may read this to develop these skills and it will help you a long way.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I would say my circle of friends have been helpful in overcoming my challenge and build my essential skills, knowledge, and qualities. We have the same ideas, set our different goals that WE ALL have achieved. We lift each other up, hold one another accountable when we need to. The good, bad and most certainly the ugly. Hard pill to swallow but we hear and understand each other. Also we come from different walks of life so we learn and take a lesson we have to give. This has helped me in being successful in moving forward in life and taking on opportunities that I would never dream of!
