Meet Tosha Marshall

We were lucky to catch up with Tosha Marshall recently and have shared our conversation below.

Tosha, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
How did I find my purpose? This is a great question. Having a sense of purpose comes from feeling connected to others. As a mother of 4, I’m always in protective mode. 2 out of my 4 kids suffered from eczema. During the pandemic I had began to research ways to naturally improve their skin.

I ran across an article that mentioned the benefits of shea butter and that is when the light bulb went off and the fun began. I saw how great my body butters and oils were improving my kids skin so I decided to share my gift with my family and friends. I received positive feedback and realized that this was my gift.

I now use my gift by servicing others and helping them to love their skin, naturally. My products are made without all the harsh and harmful chemicals. I feel that this is my true purpose.

Soul Sista is my creation and contribution to providing affordable luxury skincare products. All handmade, with love.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m Tosha Marshall, the creator of Soul Sista Body Essentials LLC. My family battled with eczema for years and I was constantly disappointed with the products I purchased. Refusing to pay for another high priced product, I began to research butters, oils and natural ingredients to create the perfect formula for my family’s skin.

Our products are made with the highest quality ingredients and are 100% natural. Soul Sista Body Essentials will quench your body’s thirst offering ultimate hydration while relaxing your mind with our comforting fragrances. With regular use, your skin will look healthy, hydrated and satin smooth.

My mission is to offer you great handmade products that exfoliate your skin and moisturize your body. Shea, Mango and Cocoa butters, and other ingredients work to heal and hydrate your skin. Each product recipe is created with healthy, glowing skin in mind.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Being a small business owner is kind of like riding a roller coaster. On a typical day your emotions can and will go up and down.

Looking back I would say the three skills that were most impactful in my journey are The 3 P’s. Persistence, Perseverance and Patience.

Persistence is the quality that allows someone to continue doing something or trying to do something even though it is difficult or opposed by other people. I have always been persistent with my goals, no matter how big or small. If there was a problem, I never quit but instead I would approach the situation differently.

Perseverance is the the quality that allows someone to continue trying to do something even though it is difficult. Even with the struggles of being a new business owner I persevered. Only a daily basis, I give 1000% to Soul Sista. I am just as committed today as I was when I first started my business.

Patience is the ability to wait for a long time without becoming annoyed or upset. I have been a business owner for 2 years now and I have learned that the one skill you must have as a business owner is patience.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
One day I was scrolling on Instagram and came across a post from Steve Harvey. The Magic of Thinking Big by David J Schwartz and The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale. Both of these books are equally amazing.

I look at life in a totally different way since reading these books. I now try to see the positive in every situation, even if the outcome is not in my favor. I now aim higher and think bigger with every goal I have set for Soul Sista and my personal life.

These books are filled with gems to keep you motivated when you need that extra push. After reading The Power of Positive Thinking I began to really believe in myself and stopped second guessing every decision that I made. I realized that changing your mindset will change your entire life. Positive Thinking = Positive Outcome.
