Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Traci Duncan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Traci, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
It was shown to me in a dream. Psychic abilities ran in both sides of my family. It was apparent from a young age that I had them. Everyone inherits different things. Some of my relatives inherited green eyes and left-handedness. None of us thought about trying to turn any of these things into careers. I gave readings to family and friends over the years, but my main focus and purpose was being a mother. Once my kids grew up, I kept wondering what my new purpose was to be.
My guides came to me in a dream one night, and said they were going to show me my job. I was so excited. I’d always loved writing. I hoped it would have something to do with that. They took me to an oak grove and pointed at a spot of light shining between the leaves and said, “That’s your job.” I knew then that I couldn’t hide my psychic abilities in the shadows anymore. I had to shine my light.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As a psychic, I’m a channel for information for the highest good of all parties involved. Unlike some psychics, I don’t connect to my client’s energy. Instead, my spirit team connects with my clients guides and angels. It’s very much a case of, have your people talk to my people. I used to do quite a bit of mediumship – connecting with client’s deceased family and friends. These days, the focus is more on the client’s needs for growth, although the occasional departed person may pop in if they can contribute relevant information. For the majority of my sessions, I’ll tune in 20 minutes or so beforehand and begin automatic writing. I never know what’s going to come out. I’ve gotten everything from names, to songs, to complete floor plans, to several paragraphs, or a mix of any and all of these things. Once the session begins, I read what I’ve written and then the rest just flows out. For short sessions, like events, I use a variety of cards. They’re like short-hand to help get information across quickly when you’ve only got 15 or 20 minutes to spend with a person.
The information presented is, first and foremost, what my clients need to hear at that given moment. After that, we can move on to what they might want to know. Most of the time, the two are one and the same. Sessions generally focus on obstacles my clients may be facing in their growth. Ways to overcome the challenge are offered, and insights into the root cause and the spiritual lesson it’s trying to teach them.
The most exciting thing about this work is the validation that I’m helping people. I love hearing, “Oh, wow!”, or “How did you know that?” It’s also great when I hear back from them and they tell me of the positive changes that have occurred as a result of our session.
In the new year, I plan on updating my website and expanding the levels of my offerings to include a wider range of price points, including a few monthly slots for people to pay what they wish. I truly believe my spiritual team and I provide a valuable service. I don’t want financial constraints to prevent anyone who seeks it.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities that have been most impactful on my journey have been, – faith, devotion, and courage. Faith in your spiritual team is important, but just as important is the faith you must have in yourself and your abilities. Work on your own personal connection and communication style with your spirit team. Ask for validation. Once that relationship is firmly established, then try to extend your offerings to others.
Do this work because you love it. I devote a great deal of time to my spiritual practice and education. This includes being cognizant of my emotional and physical state. Practice, practice, practice. Give readings to your family and friends. Try out for a local psychic fair, most reputable ones have some type of vetting process. Psychic fairs are like spiritual bootcamps. You’ll strengthen your practice, hone your skills, and meet like minded people, including potential mentors.
It’s one thing to do this for people who love you. It takes bravery to step out and offer it to the public. Have the courage to insist that your ego take the backseat for a while. Passing on information is your business. What a client does, or doesn’t, choose to do with it, is theirs. Respect their free will. Psychics are merely conduits. A psychic is an instrument. They are neither the one playing the instrument, nor the music that it produces. As with all aspects of life, some people will be easier for you to connect with than others.
Maintain energetic boundaries. You don’t keep the front door to your house wide open 24/7. Your energy deserves as much respect as your matter. Speaking of respect, it’s one thing to disclose information to someone who requests it. It is unfair to ambush someone who has not.
Do something mundane, like taking a walk, paying bills, or washing dishes after a session. Connecting with spirit can be intoxicating. It’s important to stay grounded in the here and now, as that is where you currently exist. The objective for both the client and practicioner is to enhance their current reality, not to escape from it.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Currently, my biggest challenge is marketing. Virtually all of my clients are via word of mouth. It’s been that way for decades. That’s great and I appreciate it, but I’m being nudged on all sides to expand my outreach. My guides recently told me, “The hawkers of hate are yelling. It is time for the messengers of love to stop whispering.” Because marketing is something I haven’t been interested in until now, it’s something I never bothered to learn much about. I’m working on overcoming that. Knowledge is power, so the first step I’ve taken is to invest in a marketing course. I’m working my through it. The second will be to update my website. The third, and most personally challenging for me, will be to engage more in social media.
I have mixed feelings about social media. As a result, I’ve been hesitant to use it to my full advantage. My guides have basically told me to get over it. I guess I’ll just have to walk my talk, even if my legs are shaking, and tell my ego one more time to climb into the backseat.
