Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Trenesha Harrison. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Trenesha , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
My original purpose always comes from GOD. My faith, values, and ethics drive my purpose. I have always had drive and determination, but I often lacked direction. So it was hard knowing where that focus needed to go. Over the years, I have run across people who have seen more in me than I ever saw in myself. They have pushed me into believing in myself and settling into natural roles of leadership. Instead of discouraging me, I’ve let my different experiences with relationships, jobs, roles, and my education, serve to give me lessons that have molded my life and my future. I always had this nagging desire to do something bigger and knew I was meant for more than what I was currently doing, but I never could put my finger on it. Every promotion, every job experience, and every mentor I’ve had, helped bring me to where I am today. I have a long ways to go, but I’m proud to know that this is exactly where I am supposed to be. My advice for anyone who feels like they are having trouble finding their purpose, is to listen to that nagging and tugging desire, pray, and if you feel like there’s something you should be doing, then take chances and figure out what it is. That’s your intuition talking to you, that’s GOD.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a full time real estate broker. I specialize in residential real estate because of the emotional connection that people get with their homes. Nothing is more gratifying that getting my clients home sold for top dollar or helping my buyers find the right home for their current lifestyle. Social media has really taken my business to higher levels over the last few years. I love having a team thats really like a family. We lean on each other and we support each other. I’m the leader by default, but we all have so much to learn from each other. If you have any real estate needs, we have real estate partners all over the country, the Dominican Republic and even Ghana. Reach out and let us assist you.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When I look back at skills and qualities I have, I think about the face that I’m service oriented, I’m resulted driven, and my background in administration and customer service. I’ve always been service oriented, and thats the method I take for how I run my business now. I’m in the service industry, and I provide a service to my clients. I have to help them understand the process, I help them understand my role, their role, and what the intended outcome is. The benefit to me being results driven, is that it’s hard for me to give. When my clients have a goal, we all have a goal. With my background in customer service and administration, this benefits my clients because I am organized, thorough in my process, and make sure we don’t miss important deadlines and stay on track. All of this is important for my clients and this has helped me get repeat business from my clients and numerous referrals. When you look at your path, never stop learning new skills and never stop educating yourself. The world constantly changes, and you have to avoid getting stagnant. Understand the skills you are good at and figure out how to incorporate that into your business.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I feel overwhelmed I think about the basics that keep me grounded. Setting my alarm and getting up when it goes off, Keeping a schedule and keeping my calendar up to date, do tasks as they come and don’t put them off. Bonus tip: I do something for myself that I enjoy like listening to music, dancing, and cooking a good meal.
