Meet Trisha Owen

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Trisha Owen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Trisha below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Trisha with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My family escaped from Vietnam after we lost the Vietnam War. My father was the mastermind in planning our escape and getting us safe refuge in America. It was a tough life growing up as poor immigrants. My parents both had prestigious careers in Vietnam, but now had to start their lives all over again in America learning a new culture and language. They worked tirelessly all the time to ensure they could provide food and a home for us and also went to school at night to learn to speak English. After our family became U.S. citizens, my father continued to work a full time job during the day and attended college in the evening. He believed getting an education was the key to a successful career that would help us progress to a more financially prosperous life. Eventually my father’s hard work paid off, and he became an electrical engineer. He always encouraged and motivated me to work hard to achieve my dreams and never give up. We escaped Vietnam, so we would have a better life and opportunities to succeed in life that we never would have had in Vietnam. My father passed away last year, but his legacy is his inspiring life story of hard work and sacrifice because he loved his family and wanted to give them the best life he could. From observing my incredibly hard working father (and mother), I learned the importance of having good work ethics as well as perseverance, diligence, and determination in order to accomplish my goals and fulfill my dreams.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am an actress, model, voiceover artist, and host/spokesperson for corporate videos. I am also teleprompter proficient and have studied improvisation, script analysis, drama, and public speaking. Being an actress allows me to “walk in other people’s shoes” and experience their journeys when I get to play so many different characters. Some of the characters I have portrayed in tv and film were: a tough prosecuting attorney, a doctor being forced to work for the bad guys, a snarky, alcoholic mom, a rape victim’s sister, and a grieving widow helping her 2 children cope with their father’s death, After a few years in the industry, I felt drawn to working on faith based projects. I had so much fun performing on Christian educational videos and comedic shows that teach Bible lessons to children. I have found the most joy telling inspiring stories on faith based feature films. On the film ” It’s Christmas Again!” I had the supporting role of portraying the mother of the lead character, who was played by my real life daughter, actress-Leela Owen.
My most well known accomplishment on a faith based project was having a supporting role on the multi-award winning feature film, “Divine Influencer.” Both of these feature films are available on Amazon Prime.
In addition to being an actress for film, tv, and commercials, I am also a health care professional with a doctorate degree in pharmacy. I am proud to be working in the industry and represented by Houghton Talent Agency in Atlanta and Citizen Skull Management in Los Angeles.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Perseverance, Determination, and Good Work Ethics. This industry is very competitive and full of rejection, and I have to stay on the path and keep on working at it. Luckily, I get numerous auditions every week, and every audition is an opportunity that I never take for granted.
My advice to folks is research the industry and know and understand the hard work that is involved in order to succeed. The A-listers you see who have achieved success did not do it overnight. Many of them put in over a decade of working on their craft and tirelessly working in the industry before becoming A-listers. You can’t let rejection discourage you from continuing on your journey, and you need to always keep a positive mindset.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
I seek out a peaceful area in nature and sit quietly and observe the beauty around me. Getting away from the hustle bustle of life, technology (phone, laptop), and people allows me to connect to simplicity.
