Meet Tyler Blackstock

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tyler Blackstock . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tyler below.

Hi Tyler, thank you so much for joining us today. There are so many topics we could discuss, but perhaps one of the most relevant is empathy because it’s at the core of great leadership and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your empathy?
Well to start with, I would have to say pain. At least for me that is; I’ve experienced my fare share as we all have and even though some may have experienced more than others pain is pain. Also, thinking how you would feel if something was done to you 9/10 it’s how the other person would feel so always keep that in mind

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Well where do I start? Im from a small town in northwest Florida called chipley. Simple answer I’m a artist in every form of the word I paint, write poetry, I like to do stuff with wood, really anything to express myself. What I want people to learn from my art is that it doesn’t have to be perfect and that we are all the same some of just mask it better. That’s why my art is colorful but truly looking at it there is alot of emotion in it.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
One of the biggest things that have helped me along the way is that when doing art or expressing your self rather that be paint, writing, design, etc you can never make a mistake. What I mean by that is that you can always go over your mistake and that only you have the power to say when your project or just your personal journey isn’t over until you say it is. One of my favorite quotes is “We are all in this toge0ther…alone” because at the end of the day you have to be able to live for yourself. So my best advice is do what you have to do to be able to truly love yourself.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I would have to say that my girlfriend has been very influential. We met at dark time in my life right after my mother passed away so she was my emotional support as well as she help show me what my passion is which is art. Also, my grandmother who always had an ear to listen and how to go about talking to people in any social situation
