We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tylynn Griffin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tylynn, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I grew up watching my mother and father work very hard to provide for me and other family members. There was never a question about something getting done, it just happened. The strength and perseverance accompanied with faith in God poured over to me. When I start to feel weak or burdened, I lean on Christ and the lessons I’ve learned from my parents and grandparents. I know that with Him, I can push on.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am an attorney in the Magic City, Birmingham, Alabama. I’m a passionate young woman dedicated to the advancement of my community. I’ve always wanted to serve, and everyone has told me that I have a “servant’s heart” so I embrace and operate in that vein every day. Since opening T. GRIFFIN LAW FIRM last July, I have strived to operate with a spirit of excellency. What sets me apart is my commitment to service and getting the best outcome for your client. I’ve recently expanded my services to estate planning, recognizing the need for that in my immediate community so I’m very excited to begin serving in that way as well.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities that have been the most impactful is dedication, resilience, and faith. For someone just starting out I would say stay true to yourself and develop your own sense of drive and motivation. Don’t take on someone else’s insecurities and worries and making them affect your life and career. Be YOU and push yourself fully forward through the noise.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
In the last 12 months, the biggest area of growth or improvement has been self-esteem and confidence. I am a Judge Advocate in the Army National Guard and prior to my training I allowed others to dictate my happiness and fulfillment. Since I returned I feel a renewed sense of self and like I can conquer the world. If I can push everyone else forward, I now know that I can do even more for myself. That feeling is indescribable.
