Meet Valerie Martinelli

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Valerie Martinelli a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Valerie , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from making mistakes and building a strong mindset to keep going to reach my goals. Resilence to me means that it’s good to make mistakes as long as you’re consistently learning from them and pivoting towards learning and making changes for success.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a Career Leadership Coach and the CEO of Valerie Martinelli Consulting, an award-winning coaching and consulting business, since 2016. VMC helps mid and senior-level executives land new roles, cultivate careers, and earn massive salary increases between $15K- $60K using 1:1 and group coaching strategies.

I am a co-author of the #1 International bestselling book “Ready Connect Grow: Grow Your Business Through the Power of Your Connections”.

I also host a monthly Q&A session for jobseekers, career changers, and professionals seeking career guidance.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Resilience, passion, and vision are three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey. I choose these three because entrepreneurship requires resilience, particularly in a difficult or crowded industry. Every entrepreneur makes mistakes in the first few years and it’s important to be resilient enough to get back up and keep learning and pivoting. Passion is crucial because that will be your “why” each day and what gets you out of bed in the morning. Your passion will be important to your clients and the impact that it will have on them. Lastly, you must have a vision for what you are trying to achieve, whether it’s short-term, long-term, or both. Your vision will be unlike anyone else’s and it is important to get that message across as much as possible.

I advise those who are early on in their journey to consider entrepreneurship like a marathon. You won’t make it to the end in a short period. You will have to continuously train, work with coaches, enhance your skills, seek assistance, and pivot when necessary.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My coaches have been the most helpful in helping me overcome challenges. It is important to seek guidance for your own growth and to uncover the blind spots that could be keeping your business from achieving further success. The longer you are in business, the more challenges change and can become more difficult. This is why I believe in investing in myself and my success, to continue to reach new levels and achieve new goals.
