Meet Victor Yuen

We recently connected with Victor Yuen and have shared our conversation below.

Victor, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
Before I talk about thriving in situations where you’re the only one in the room to begin with, we must understand that the idea of thriving, no different than the pursuit of “success,” is an idea that is subjective to every individual. In the industry of designing and marketing a house of luxury products and experiences that attribute to Tangible Gratitude, it’s no surprise that I put myself in a particularly peculiar position in a room full of entrepreneurs. To realize success in the line of work I do, it’s acknowledging success of having this present moment and letting it be the motive of conversation. This where I learn to be successful and thrive.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I run a business named Tangible Gratitude. This entity exists as a luxury brand that challenges the principle of formality; with emphasis on luxury’s attachment to society’s ideology of contentment. Yes, it’s a deep subject, but the most exciting part about this is that in theory, we’re in pursuit of some shape of Tangible Gratitude.

Just recently Tangible Gratitude released a collection of formalwear. The modern take on this design presents the idea that time for your own self is just as much an occasion to celebrate as much as every special occasion.

Underway, you can expect to see handbags, furniture, and very soon interactive events. You’ll want to subscribe to our new letters on our website tangiblegratitude.com

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The biggest most impactful things I’ve gathered, summed into 3 thoughts are: 1. Whatever it is you’re pursuing, make it impossible to not make sense. 2. Work with the intent that your process will be the testament to your faith of your pursuit; and let yourself know the opportunity you have to work on your pursuit to begin with is the very act of success. 3. Know that failure and falls are only evidence you’re exercising the choice you choose, and that success is in the reality that you’re pursuit is in the present physical action.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
The community that I’ve been granted, through the countless conversations I’ve had in this journey, have fruited the ultimate lessons. Not that I expected answers everyday in this pursuit, but because I don’t have experience in the fashion industry or general product design field, progress from an outsiders view might seem like a random shot in the dark… Starting a luxury house from absolutely nothing, gets you questioning what defines the idea of quality and value to an individual. It’s undeniable that success is subjective and you get to see that when you realize that values to every individual you end up conversing with has their own perspective. This helped me realize the faith we chance, in every step forward, in anything is for the belief that all actions are intend to receive a more tangible form of our idealized place gratitude. Only here did I learn that gratitude is here in the process, the idea of realizing falls and fails and the choice to make steps forward, is the very actualization that the pursuit is embodied and the destination of success is located in the present within this process.

These realizations were the keys I’ve found that let me activate actions that move the mountains of production and outreach.
