Meet Victoria Craven

We recently connected with Victoria Craven and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Victoria with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Growing up in a household led by my remarkable single mother was nothing short of inspiring. My mother’s unwavering determination for a fresh start allowed her to overcome every obstacle in her path. At the age of 31, she not only welcomed me into this world but also ensured my brother and sister were no longer in foster care. Simultaneously, she embarked on her educational journey, starting with obtaining her GED and eventually attaining a master’s degree.

From a young age, I was acutely aware of the immense sacrifices and efforts she made for our family. Her example undoubtedly instilled in me a strong work ethic. She consistently emphasized that I could achieve anything I set my mind to in this life, as long as I treated others with kindness and maintained a positive outlook.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m Victoria Craven, a style and brand image specialist based in Southern California. With over a decade of experience in photography and creative production in the city of Los Angeles, I’m deeply passionate about shaping and elevating brand identities. What truly ignites my enthusiasm is the art of visual storytelling and the meaningful connections it forges. I thrive on collaborative endeavors with both individuals and businesses, turning their visions into captivating branded content. My mission encompasses partnering with sustainable companies, surf and skate lifestyle brands, and amplifying the voices of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ community-driven brands.

In 2023, a significant portion of my focus has been dedicated to capturing the essence of female skateboarders. My goal is to shine a spotlight on the remarkable talent and empowerment that thrives within the female skateboarding community. Traditionally seen as a male-dominated sport, I’m committed to reshaping this narrative by inspiring more women to embrace skateboarding, shatter barriers, and discover empowerment through it. The warmth and support of this community have fueled my creativity, driving me to create meaningful and visually stunning artwork. My sincere hope is that my imagery serves as inspiration for other young women, encouraging them to pursue their passions in photography and skateboarding alike.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I feel my eagerness to learn anything and everything that interests me has helped me succeed. My biggest advice to someone who is not sure on what type of creative field they want to go in yet is to TRY IT ALL. I would encourage them to seek connections with like-minded individuals who can impart new skills and perspectives. I’ve been so blessed to have worn so many different hats in my creative career, I’ve photographed weddings, maternity photos, wellness retreats, album covers, brand campaigns, I’ve built furniture, produced & styled large scaled events, and was also even a freelance graphic designer.

This multifaceted journey has provided invaluable insights into what resonates with me and what doesn’t. It has been a transformative experience, helping me to discern my true passions and strengths within the creative realm.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
My mission is to connect with positive, like-minded individuals who share a passion for collaboration and creating meaningful impact. If you are a sustainable company, a surf and skate lifestyle brand, and or an ally to the BIPOC/LGBTQIA+ community please reach out to me to work together!

By forging strong connections and fostering a supportive network, we can collectively inspire positive change and make a lasting difference in our creative endeavors.
