Meet Wakiekie Reid

We recently connected with Wakiekie Reid and have shared our conversation below.

Wakiekie, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I developed my confidence from my parents, my siblings, my neighbors, and those who saw potential and growth and beauty in me even before I could see those things in me..

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My day job is nursing everything after that is pure passion. I’m an author a podcast or a motivational influencer. I have a nonprofit which I started in 2015 that still developing into the future that I wanted to be to share with others how to make their goals and their dreams from start to finish, come alive. I am a designer I design apparel that inspires every slogan and everything that I create has some purpose behind it in a meaning behind it. I’m currently working on my first screenplay and go screen screen screen. I’m still gonna be happy with seeing my work displayed in the form in which I’ve always dreamed of sharing it , I am a lover of the imagination, hence my desire to publish children’s books which I have a character that I designed from scratch and I am so proud of him because he has so many adventures that he wants to share. I also write and publish women, affirmation books, small booklets that kind of help get you through today if you are feeling down and out, and you need to flip the page and remind yourself that you are great , these are the booklets for you. I recently began venturing into my consulting / advocacy aspect of my company. Reid it Group began as an apparel and publication company that now has several entities associated with its purpose, one of which is my medical consulting firm that’s on the way, providing services to jails, hospitals nonprofit and for profit companies who are preparing to expand or revise clinical accreditations and knowledge to create a better work environment and better healthcare in facility or add additional accreditations.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My most important skill in my journey is perseverance. I let nothing stop me and when I say nothing, I mean nothing if I want it, I go get it. I achieve it. I figure out what I need in order to obtain it and I work in that area in that area alone so my advice to anyone who has a passion to do anything, whether it be an education and further in their career advocacy entrepreneurship have perseverance don’t give up on you, as my apparel says it’s always me versus me. I’m always my own competition and I look at me yesterday. Look at me today form of vision of what I want to look like and that’s the picture I paint.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I most definitely looking for partners investors in my vision guest to be on my podcast. Basically, I focus on African-American women, women of color, whatever region race they associate with to partner with me and making sure that we are not left behind. We have an equal chance in the race to be entrepreneurs to be millionaires to be successful and everything that we venture out to do, that we have equal opportunities for promotions in the workplace and all the things that are passionate to me as a black woman, I want to partner with other black women or black men that can stand behind us who know what we are going through and what it takes to lift us We cross the finish line together.. it would be a pleasure to partner with designers who can further elevate my apparel collections. I would like my designs to be in stores, airports venues, all of all across countries.
