Meet Wesley Ryan

We were lucky to catch up with Wesley Ryan recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Wesley, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Our team, including Wesley Ryan, Bob Ryan and Ariel Faeth have a drive to become the nation’s best canine entertainment show. We started 2 years ago with this mission and strive each day to push our show to the next level. Each of us works independently and as a team with our dogs to constantly improve our craft. Our work ethic comes from the drive to be the ultimate in dog shows.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Performance Dogs of Ohio is a group of canine enthusiasts that formed due to a passion of performing live with our K9 best friends. We travel across the Midwest to perform with our high-flying dogs.

We have performed in the last two years at over 100 different locations including county fairs, professional football games, NCAA basketball games (halftime), festival, parties and private events

We get asked about our dogs a bunch and these dogs are our pets first and performers second. They eat, sleep and take up too much room in the bed..

Our training philosophy is to only use positive dog training methods and we pride ourselves on the safety of our teammates. We focus on healthy relationship with our best friends, and promote dog sports to strengthen the bond with our pets. These dogs love to work for us, and they love to perform.

We only use dog safe discs from a company called Dynamic Discs. .

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Canine performance shows are more difficult to orchestrate than what we initially thought. The behind the scenes work that goes into every performance is truly what makes us special. We have dedicated countless hours to making the best canine entertainment show experience to our fans and customers. Our advice to others in the early stages of their journey is to do it for the love of the craft. If you do not love what you are doing then you cannot create the best product. It is difficult to pinpoint an exact shill or quality but having a passion for what you do shows on and off the field.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
We are constantly looking for new dog trainers and performers who want to join us as we go from town to town. Finding a person that is willing to do the behind the scenes work and have that internal drive is our target audience.
