We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Whatchall Out Here Doin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Whatchall Out Here Doin, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Collectively, our resilience has come from our spirituality which is the foundation. Whether we’re prepared or not, it is how we choose to react to our life experiences which plays into our level of resilience. Resilience then becomes a bank to which we both deposit into and draw from over our lifetime.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
The Whatchall Out Here Doin Podcast was birthed from a mother and a best friend tied together by the loss of Tabatha’s daughter, Christy, in 2021.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities and topics we believe we offer our best knowledge and level of impact, and which have also played a major part in both our personal journeys include:
Trusting Yourself
Self Compassion & forgiveness
Spirituality
We often spend too much time beating ourselves up about what we should or shouldn’t have done. But the truth is we make decisions based on where we are a given point. Sometimes, we have to say “it is what it is,” take the lesson, do better, and move forward with grace.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
We can both say that our parents allowing us to have a voice and an identity served as a major impact in ourlives.
Brittney — My parents always supported my colorful nature and interests, and they also allowed me to respectfully speak up for myself when I didn’t necessarily agree with their parental “come from.” So for me, this offered me a great level of authenticity, freedom and self expression.
Tab — My parents gave in to my rebellious nature and later on embraced it. They realized they couldn’t silence me and began to let me live my life out loud and unapologetically. So it provided me with a deep and profound level of freedom.
