Meet Yazi Davis

Yazi, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
This was a behavior that was modeled for me growing up. Both of my parents worked very hard and we grew up with very little. I learned at an early age that if I wanted to something better or different for myself I was going to have to work really hard. I truly believe there are no shortcuts and you get out of something what you put into it. I have seen this positively play out in my life.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I want my clients to feel loved and cared for. I want them to look back at their photos and just relieve every bit of joy they have with their loved ones. Photo and video are the only chance we have at pressing pause on our lives and leaving a legacy for the ones we love.

I am passionate about spending time with people and sharing the joy of a moment with others! When you book me as your photographer, I am not only there to capture moments but to live them with you. I want to build a relationship with each of my clients. I want to go deeper with you, I want to get as creative as I can with you. I give very heavy directions. You plan on showing up and let me do the work. Your photos will be timeless.

Marriage is one of the greatest (and craziest) experiences of my life. I know what it feels like to be loved like never before. In spite of the challenges we’ve faced. We are stronger and better for it. I think that’s what I love about working with couples. Life has ups and downs. It feels so good to look back, you can see where you have been and how far you have come.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I am great at time management; time is money. When you begin to look at time as a currency it can truly change the way you work and live. I love data. I am always looking at the numbers to see what can be done to level up or do better. I am not afraid to take risks. I love to just encourage people to get after it. Sure it might not work. BUT, what if it does!!? You never know until you try. I think my life, business is evidence of that.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
One of my favorite books is To Hell with The Hustle. It has shifted my perspective so much over the last year. This book just talks about how there is a season of hustle. We are not created to live in a constant hustle. Life is about living and it’s really hard to do that when you’re focused on the wrong things.

“Our current hustle culture is no different; it’s all about exceeding limits. It’s about striving for that false freedom to do this. Eat that. Work this way. Just. Work. Harder. Network more. Just buy my masterclass and you, too, can be a millionaire by age nineteen.”
