We were lucky to catch up with Yella Vanella recently and have shared our conversation below.
Yella, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
I get my generosity from years of being around the same energy. My family has that mentality of knowing that giving is such a great aspect. I grew up in the church and everyone knows that church is all about giving back. It began to spill into other areas of my life. I would go and donate my clothes to the homeless shelter, go and visit animal shelters to play with the dogs, and at a young age I began to baby sit for young children, and help with events set up for non-profit funding. It feels good to know that I can give to people in need and take a charge for those who need an extra charge!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Yella Vanella. I am an entrepreneur in pet sitting and grooming, clothing line, and many more to come in the future. Right now, my pet sitting business is coming together and my biggest aspect, is the grooming. Animals need to have a good wash in order to be presentable for fostering. I plan to keep working hard to learn all i can to continue grooming. My brand focuses on giving the animals the best experience and come out better than with the right pitch. You can book me through the Petco app and just call the Beverly Blvd. location.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My three qualities are first, having patience. It may not be the best of patience, but I end up having it keep me going when I do need it to keep me going. Second, would have to be faith. My faith is the strongest out of every quality I have. I keep my faith the strongest because faith is what even has you saying yes to anything in the first place. So keeping the faith is so important to me, Third would have to be my happiness and peace. Things can get to you when life gets hard, but for me I get through those things by making sure I feel every emotion, but choose to end it with something that makes me happy. Happy thoughts. Happy food. Happy everything.
If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
Currently, I believe I am going through a reflecting stage. This is challenging for me because there are points in our life where we need to reflect back by looking at what has happen. We try so hard to be strong and to “keep going with the flow”, but we will never heal without tending to the actual wounds we have. Reflecting is hard but its easier to just forget and substitute your bad feelings with abuse of other substances. So this past year was my time used reflecting on myself and my own problems and taking the time to realize what i need to work on for myself to become a better person. It makes it hard for me to speak to people and be social when you don’t have a grasp on your own problems and can’t call yourself out on them. The only way to do that is to reflect on those issue and really feel them, It gets hard, but I am here to let people know that you can get through it, by being vulnerable and open about my life and working on myself.
