We were lucky to catch up with Yoescarlay Rodriguez Mogollon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Yoescarlay, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Immigrating from Venezuela to America necessitated resilience in order for me to have the life that I wanted. It has not been easy moving to a country with different culture and language. It has been even more difficult to run my own business in this new environment. There are lot of set-backs and hardships along the way that require reliance on resilience. My mother is the person who taught me how to be resilient. I was raised with the phrase “quiero, puedo, y lo hago” which translates to “I want, I can, and I do it”. When I encounter situations and people who tell me that I cannot, I repeated this phrase to myself. This phrase constantly reminds me that anything you dream, you can do. Fortunately, not only do I have nay-sayers, but I have supporters who believe in me.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My story begins in Venezuela, at the age of 18, when I had a job to create social media content for an online casino. Simultaneously, I worked in two schools giving computer classes to children ages 4-16 years old. The combination of these professions helped me understand the meaning of having “human quality” and a defined objective.
That’s when I decided to change jobs and start working at a Digital Marketing company, fulfilling the role of web programmer. After a year, it became my greatest dream to have my own Digital Marketing company and that is when I founded Agencia Yoeweb 94, CA. For the next two years, I had clients from various cultures and parts of the world, who opened my mind to dream beyond Venezuela. That is when I made the decision to visit America, which, unknowingly at the time, would be the start of my new life.
When I started my new life in this country, I had a well-defined dream to fulfill, which was to create a new Yoeweb in America. Fulfilling this dream, however, did not come easy. As with many of life’s endeavors, I needed money. For months, I worked as a driver and product promoter, until I met my goal and was able to register my current company Yoeweb Design, Inc. That day, September 14, 2017, my dream began to take shape. I started with a small desk in my room, upgraded to 6′ x 6′ office, and ultimately grew to the multi-room location where I am today.
I feel proud of myself, of the people who have believed in my dream, and in mentors who, as the days go by, have taught me how to prepare the legacy that I want to leave behind.
At Yoeweb Design, we offer Digital Marketing and Printing services, such as Web design and development, Branding, Graphic Design, Neon signs, engraving and laser cut, and much more. I am currently focused on the Business Consulting area, where I seek to know the story behind the ideas and/or dreams of clients and thus be a bridge to materialize it.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most important qualities which helped me achieve my dream were perseverance, optimism, and hard work.

The book that has inspired me the most is called Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. This book has taught me the importance of defining a goal and concretely defining the steps to achieve that goal.
