Meet Yolanda D. Brunson

Yolanda D., we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Wow! As I think about it, finding my purpose led me on a journey of self-discovery. There were weeds I had to pull from within, there were unattended places within my heart that needed new seedlings to grow, there were also rocky places that needed forgiveness and then there was the “valley of growth”. This place in my journey to finding purpose I call it my “sweet spot” because evolution happens here. I mean this is the place where the “real work” began for me in becoming my true authentic self…and the work continues daily. In this place, I had to make decisions about who I wanted to show up as in life and to others. It was about me building my self-worth with compounding interests that add value to me and to the lives of others around me. I love creating spaces for others to just “BE”. To “BE” their truest and grow beyond their own expectations. Finding my purpose showed me an I AM statement. I AM a defining evolution of love and light wrapped up in God’s driven purpose to encourage and uplift others. Simple, that’s my purpose.  Your gifts normally lead you to your purpose, because most times you’re already doing it but because it comes so naturally, you believe that it’s something else. My gift of exhortation has become my life’s uniform to humanity. I’m passionate about curating experiences that elevate, empower, encourage, and esteem others, especially women. Sometimes our purpose appears at its appointed time, when it’s needed most in the world to serve and help others be a better version of themselves.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m your Everyday Woman who embraces beauty in all things! My name is Yolanda D. Brunson, a native Washingtonian, currently residing in Maryland. I have always loved accessories since I was a little girl playing dress up, while diving into my grandmother’s and mom’s jewelry boxes of vibrant gemstones, necklaces and rings! The excitement in finding the right accessory to compliment my outfit awakened the creative genes inside of me right from the start. As a wife, mom, daughter, friend and entrepreneur, though these roles are important, I find pure joy in encouraging others to be their best. I love seeing other people win at life (especially women). One of my inherited gifts is exhortation and cultivating sparkling relationships because they are important to me personally and in business. As a small business owner of YODEL Jewelry Box my targeted audience is the “EveryDay Woman Who Dares To Be Different’! Because I believe no woman’s style is the same every day, there’s always an opportunity to color outside of the lines and try and do something different. Well, at YODEL, I solve this problem, by taking the guesswork out of fashion jewelry trends because our jewelry remains timeless. We have clients to this day, who still wear jewelry that was designed when YODEL first started in 2006. Our jewelry is sustainable, and I personally love that we continue to create magical sparks in the way we celebrate the bold and savviness of women who DARE to BE Different everywhere!

In efforts to unite other like-minded women I launched a business cohort called “When Queens Talk Business” designed to equip women of all backgrounds with the knowledge, support, and resources they need to be successful in business. Like “Women Who Empower Happy Hour” is a virtual information session that is an incubator of inspiration for entreprenuHers. This year 2024 I’m leaping in faith to bring some exciting ventures to life by having interactive working sessions with industry leaders/experts that will encourage female entrepreneurs to reach their potential and drive them towards their business aspirations. For instance, Stra-Ta-Teas-The Entrepreneurial Experience kicks off in February 2024-It’s A Strategy Par*Tea with the focus on Minding Your Business and heading into Women’s History Month I’m curating A Black Woman’s Experience (Daring & Courageous Conversations) for the everyday woman. Then to close out the summer, for the third year is a event I do call Dreams on the Beach which normally takes place in August. It’s a relaxing time of self-care and self-love for women to release all that no longer serves or blocks your happiness from within. If you’re in the DC, Maryland and Virginia area please contact me if you want to be a part of this movement.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
As I look back over my journey, the three intrinsic qualities that made such an impact on my life was my faith to keep my feet planted and moving forward no matter what it looked like because better days were coming. Perseverance to see that this too shall pass and to be steadfast with endurance until the end, even if you have to stop and start over. Lastly, creativity.  It’s amazing to have a vision along with a strategy and a plan, but to see it all come to fruition—it’s pretty powerful to watch unfold. The combination of these life’s ingredients has helped me bake up some of the most memorable experiences that keep me evolving.

The advice I would share with others is to believe in yourself. You have more in you than you realize. Yes, do it afraid, you’ll see as you go, you’ll be growing and developing into this person that you learn to love because you took a chance on YOU!!! Let’s Go and Grow.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Thank you for this opportunity to express my interest in possibly partnering or collaborating with other entrepreneurs, especially women who love to curate safe spaces for growth.

I would love to collaborate and be an incubator of inspiration for like-minded business women who don’t mind building community and cultivating sparkling relationships where we all win and have a seat at the table. As a product-based business exploring adding service options that elevate, empower, encourage, and elevate women…let’s connect and grow together!
