We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Yvette Caslin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Yvette, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
It’s rather amusing that you’ve brought up this question. Honestly, I wasn’t even aware that I harbored such doubts. It took someone else to highlight it for me as I navigated through what felt like an entirely new world, transitioning from senior leadership in media and entertainment to delving into the complexities of financial services. Suddenly, I grappled with mathematical concepts and regulatory frameworks to which I had little prior exposure.
During this transition, a colleague who was a director of Human Resources at a prominent telecommunications company stepped in to assist me. They meticulously revamped my résumé and illuminated the wealth of transferable leadership skills I had accumulated over my 18-year career in media and entertainment. They emphasized my resilience, tenacity, and unwavering discipline, which I honed over the years.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I had to bet on my faith in 2018. With the disruption of traditional media, I was out of a job and had very little savings and retirement. It was a highly emotional time. Today, as a prosperity coach at The Pinkprint LLC, a financial services firm specializing in crafting personalized playbooks for enhanced financial decision-making, I guide clients toward their financial objectives. Our approach centers around seven core pillars: economic, spiritual, social, vocational, intellectual, emotional, and physical well-being. With our motto, “Define Your Wealth,” we strive to empower clients to define and attain their desired levels of abundance and joy.
Utilizing my expertise as a tax strategist and specialist in credit and mortgages, I collaborate with clients to develop tailored plans to help them realize their financial goals.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Immerse yourself in learning to achieve mastery in your chosen field. Stay informed about industry leaders and emerging trends relevant to your expertise. Embrace agility and eagerly embrace new technologies as they arise. Consider enlisting the support of a prosperity coach to enhance your journey toward long-term success. This form of education, vital for navigating today’s landscape, isn’t typically provided by traditional academic systems, making our approach indispensable.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
I have a few recommendations. First, the Bible offers significant wisdom, particularly in the Books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs, which offer practical and insightful guidance. Additionally, “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill is an invaluable resource authored by one of the foremost teachers of prosperity.
