We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Zachary Feemster a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Zachary , so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Failure is a key component to success. Instant gratification is not. Once you figure out what doesn’t work the rest flows naturally.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I play in a blues rock band from a small city in Texas called Beaumont. There’s not much to do here so we have to make our own fun.
Ole Lonesome started back in 2017. We’ve released two full length records, a 45” and numerous digital singles all while touring and playing our hearts out.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Always stay just dumb enough to have fun! 2. Learn the business side to the music industry
3. Play and be around people who are better than you and watch what happens.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
Always supporting me thru the years. Never discouraging me for following my dreams. As a younger adult that means the world.
Now that we are a steady rolling collective playing for my folks is one of my favorite things to do.
