We were lucky to catch up with Zay Keaton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Zay , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I’d say that constantly manifesting the life that I want is what keeps me working so hard. When I’m passionate about a goal that I’ve set for myself, I become very driven to see it through and I’ll naturally start cutting out the things in my life that aren’t getting me closer to my goal.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Growing up, I felt that I was always limited by external forces from reaching my full potential and living the life I wanted. I grew up in San Bernardino, CA and graduated from Cajon High School in 2019 before attending University of La Verne for Kinesiology. Once COVID hit, I was forced to move back home and reassess everything about what I wanted and didn’t want for my future. I realized that I wanted way more for my future than I felt that my current situation could give me and that I’d have to make a change. That’s when I found the Wolf’s Den in San Bernardino. The Wolf’s Den is a multi sport training facility that specializes in Ninja Warrior, Obstacle Course Racing, and Chase Tag. The owner Diego Bressant not only took me in and allowed me to reach the highest level of potential that I wanted to achieve but has since taught me how to help others do the same. Because of Diego and the Wolf’s Den, I’ve learned that there’s so much more out there in life to experience and partake in and it’s okay for you to be the black sheep and want to do more than just work a regular 9-5 job like the rest of the world. I’ve now filled my daily life with activities that people put on their bucket list or deem as “once in a lifetime.” From working on TV shows like American Ninja Warrior, Wipeout, and Floor is Lava to doing stunts with Marvel characters, being lit on fire, and jumping out of planes to traveling through Europe and swimming with sharks, there is no longer anything that I believe that I can’t accomplish if I work hard enough for it. I went from being the ordinary student athlete to my life becoming a nonstop action comedy!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The best pieces of knowledge that I’d have for people early in their journey is that you should listen more from people who are doing what you’re doing and than people who aren’t. Friends and family care about you and they might doubt your chances or put you down, but that’s because they don’t know any better. If I want to learn how to fly a plane, I’m not going to take advice from a racecar driver. I’m going to surround myself with pilots and study the stories of the best pilots in the world and try to relate theirs to mine as much as possible. If they made it happen, there’s no reason that you can’t either.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I always love collaborating with likeminded individuals that I cross paths with! Everybody has a different story and different perspective and you can learn at least one thing from everybody you come into contact with if you’re humble enough. I also love collaborating with brands who have a strong and positive message that they’d like creators like myself to help portray on social media!
