Meet Zoe Nazarian

We were lucky to catch up with Zoe Nazarian recently and have shared our conversation below.

Zoe, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Developing my confidence over the years has been a journey. As a child, I had so much confidence and didn’t have a care in the world about what other people thought about me. However, growing up with the rise of social media greatly affected my confidence levels in a negative way. I began comparing myself to the “picture perfect” people online, which was incredibly unhealthy. It took me a while to fully process that what we see online is typically only the highlights of someone else’s life. As I have grown into a young adult, I think that naturally my confidence levels have risen and I am more sure of myself in general. With that being said, we all have our moments of low self-esteem or uncertainty, but I know that we all experience those moments in various aspects of life.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At a young age, I discovered my passion for entertaining and creating. My journey began with musical theatre, but I soon began seeking opportunities in the commercial and film spaces. In those formative years, I encountered a slew of disappointments as I didn’t fit the industry’s established norms of the time. In other words, I didn’t fit the “mold” of the people that were shown on the screen. Determined to forge my own path, I started sharing my own videos online.

With these social media channels, I was able to express my creativity authentically and shape my personal narrative. My content gravitated towards themes of self-assurance, and I delved into the realms of comedy and lifestyle contents well. Recently, I felt called back to the realm of acting, which came with the newfound diversity that I was seeing on screen, embracing a mosaic of body types, ethnicities, ages, and identities.

Having just graduated university with a Bachelors of Arts degree, I now have more time to focus on my passions and do more of what I love. Auditioning and creating content with various brands have been passions of mine for as long as I could remember, and I am so excited to be able to dedicate more time to them both.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

In my journey thus far, I believe three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge have had a significant impact are as follows. First and foremost, resilience and determination have been my guiding forces. Facing rejection and not fitting the industry mold drove me to take control of my path by posting videos online. This grit allowed me to weather challenges and keep moving forward. Secondly, my creativity and self-expression played a pivotal role as well. Crafting videos about confidence, comedy, and lifestyle topics enabled me to connect with my audience on a genuine level. Lastly, adaptability and continuous learning have been key. Transitioning from online content to pursuing acting during a global pandemic showcased my ability to adapt, and the time I invested in perfecting my craft reflects my commitment to constant self-improvement.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents greatly impacted who I am today. From a young age, they recognized my passions and did everything that could to give me space to grow. They both allowed me to figure out what I wanted to do and followed my lead in what I set my mind to, which I highly appreciated. For example, when I first decided that I wanted to create content online, my mom did everything she could to learn about the social media space that I wanted to join. She even learned how to edit videos to help me out!
