Nicole Naomi Sky shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Nicole, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
For the first time in my life, I am intertwining my spirituality and my energy healing gifts with my music and my artistry in a very intentional way.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Nicole, also known as the Artist Nicole Naomi Sky, and I’m the owner of a spiritual/lifestyle brand called Naomi Sky Life. I’m a Singer, Songwriter, and Artist who loves Love in all its forms: romantic love, self love, friendship love, family love, and any other type of love that you can think of 🙂 I’ve always loved singing and writing original music. I wrote my first song when I was 10 years old. And I’ve also always felt a deep connection to the Divine.
I grew up in what I now understand today is a bit of a unique household because my parents came from 2 different religious backgrounds. Instead of choosing to celebrate or “be” only one religion, they raised us to respect, appreciate, and celebrate both. When my sister and I were little, my parents emphasized the importance of character strengths and positive personality traits as well as “being a good person”. I can see now that this combination led me to naturally be open to exploring my spirituality and fall in love with the self growth/self development world.
In college, I started experimenting with crystal healing, and eventually came across an ancient Japanese healing art called Jin Shin Jyutsu. I felt and deeply believed these 2 practices assisted me in managing stress as well as experiencing transformational, meditative-like healing states. When I practiced crystal healing on myself, I could feel my energy shift from the moment I touched a crystal. So I used these 2 forms of energy healing to relax after classes, destress, and also to help myself physically heal any aches/pains/etc.
I knew I was “sensitive” because many people described me using that word when I was growing up, including my teachers. And I understood that meant I was sensitive to energy. But I didn’t fully grasp how powerful of a gift my sensitivity was until I came across the term “Empath”, dived into learning about the science of it, learned about manifestation and energy healing, and eventually went on to become a trained & certified Advanced Reiki Master Practitioner, as well as a trained & certified Intuitive/Psychic, Spiritual Life Coach, and Akashic Records Practitioner.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I feel like I was a very happy girl who loved music, dancing, art, and any form of creativity. I believed in Magic and loved being alive! I saw the gift of daily life, and recognized the Miracle it is to BE alive. And that’s who I still am deep in my core today. I feel like one of the most special parts about healing to me is coming back to love, accept, and deeply cherish & appreciate the Inner Child. Coming back to my Truth, and grounding into the most raw and real version of myself has been one of the most freeing and healing experiences of my life. And part of that healing work has been connecting with all of these different past versions of myself, like my Inner Child and my Inner Teen, and fully loving & accepting those versions. The Akashic Records has been a tool I’ve loved using to explore and experience a lot of that specific type of healing work.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there was a time that I almost gave up… I actually started out in college as a Music major at the Frost School of Music (University of Miami). After my sophomore year, I decided to change my major to Communication studies, and I turned my Music major into a minor. I honestly wasn’t really sure what my goals were with music besides creating & releasing original songs. And I even started to lose some faith in how I could accomplish that. It felt like the career options I was given or seeing in the Music industry were not aligned with the overall lifestyle and the hopes and dreams I had imagined for myself.
My major change turned out to be one of the best decisions in my life. I got to learn about the incredible Power of Communication, and it started to give me an extra boost of belief in myself and my Artist/Musician Vision. I didn’t exactly fit in at the Music school; there was a very specific genre of music that was the most popular to write/perform when I attended there. And I felt kinda misunderstood by a lot of my peers and even some teachers, when it came to my songwriting style and my overall Artistry. I ended up expanding my mind and my world by learning about specific topics, like the “Power of Dialogue” and “Conflict Management”, at the Comm School.
There were some smaller moments of doubt, confusion, and even feeling a little lost that occurred after that, too. But when my grandmother and my step grandfather passed away in November 2020, the realization of how short life is really hit me. And that experience added to this feeling and belief that it was really important for me to do what I love.
When I look back, I understand the importance of those big life decisions and events. It all needed to unfold that way, including doubting myself so I could grow as an individual, dive deeper into my spirituality and my energy healing gifts, and end up feeling more creative and confident than ever before. Today, I have a deep appreciation for my past and my whole journey because it’s gotten me here: to this Present moment.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
The people and pets I love, my spiritual beliefs and practices, music, health, and creativity.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
How much our Inner World (thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and all the things that go on inside of our own heads) impact, influence, and inspire our External World (physical reality and daily life).
Understanding that has made me feel so empowered, even in the challenging moments. And I hope to pass that belief/knowledge/awareness onto as many people as I can.
