Oryah on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Oryah shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Oryah, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
So it’ll usually vary, but most times I wale up & get right to work. My mornings will usually consist of working out, writing articles & writing lyrics if I am feeling inspired.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Oryah & I have been making music for sone time. Originally starting off as a producer, I now both rap & occasionally sing original music. I also am a writer, and run the multimedia platform TheWavMax Ⓒ

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Honestly I used to hate voice when I was younger, as it got deeper over time. Due to this, I naturally assumed I would never have a good voice for singing/rapping/etc.

It wasn’t a super deep insecurity or anything, but now that I’m older I realize it was a feeling that just stemmed from confidence. I also never had aspirations to be a vocalist until the 2020s. My younger self would probably be pleasantly surprised to see that I ended up not even making beats & went to the vocals haha

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I think as a creative person that’s passionate about art, it’s natural to have those moments of doubt. My passion for the music itself is what keeps me & others going though. It’s something that’s undeniably a part of my identity.

I think all of us that really take the craft seriously have those moments. There are tons of reasons why most people actually do end up quitting & there’s nothing wrong with that either. But I personally don’t me see myself stopping. Every year gets better & better

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
Octopi are gonna be the next species to dominate the Earth. They’re lowkey kinda scary man. They have the ability to edit their RNA & could hypothetically adapt their cells to virtually any environment. To me, that’s a significant advantage over humans that makes them better built for longterm survival.

Additionally, we have barely discovered the deep sea. And I personally believe that there’s probably giant octopi & squids down there that we’ve never seen before. But who knows! Look into the research though

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If immortality were real, what would you build?
My hot take is that immortality is overrated. Unless you’re using the power in some way yo better the rest of humanity, it’d be pretty boring & purposeless. Plus, you can never fully connect with people cause they’re always gonna die before you. Sounds like a very lonely existence to me.
