There is thankfully a growing realization that effectiveness and self-care are linked and that investing in self-care can be massively improve productivity.

When it comes to self-care, I wanted something with a unique femininity that felt healing and empowering enough to make me happy within myself. I’ve always thought that having acne was a disaster only makeup could fix, as I evolved into the skincare world i learned how to maintain the face that I’ve always dreamt of. I usually start my mornings with a 7am hydrating and replenishing skincare routine, nothing beats feeling refreshed and replenished in the morning whilst my nights consisted of repairing and correcting. After a lifetime of running a small business and serving many clients, self-care has become one of the most important factors and top priorities in my life. Especially since most of my creative work involves physical and manual labor as well as long hours of standing or sitting. Over the years my self-care routine has been progressive and now involves physical cleanliness and care, aromatherapy, journaling, a vegan lifestyle of three years, and times of solitude in natural environments. Sometimes the stress of normal every day life can put weight on ones’s shoulders. I add in not only the chaos of lightness and darkness within my own life, but I channel that energy to the images that I capture while out sky chasing, or what most others call Storm Chasing. The drive to the fact of being told that my images were plain out not good, ugly, and stupid, helped foster me to the work that I do today when I’m out chasing storms or photography in general. I may have been limited in the fields of what most would consider as photography with nothing more than a camera, but I didn’t let that stop me.  Read more>>

Recently I’ve been more focused on my self-care due to wanting to get a better understanding of myself. I’ve started to dedicate certain or random days of the week to have a pamper day. At least once a week I’ve been starting this to show myself I deserve comfort and to reflect on how beautiful it makes me feel. Since I’ve turned 30 everything seemed to fall into place in the most effective ways. The entire 2023 I dedicated to solely focusing on me and my wants and I believe that’s what has kept me incredibly positive. Practicing more self-care has decreased my main focus on my business, but has increased my positive outlook on what’s to come next. Read more>>

Self care if very important to me and honestly, is a priority in my daily life. I am a strong believer that we have to take care of ourselves first so that we can show up as the best possible version our ourself to others. I carve time into every morning to get my mind in the right space before I take on the day. My “miracle morning” as I call it, consists of reading my daily excerpt from The Daily Stoic, I complete my lesson for the day in A Course in Miracles, spend a few minutes journaling on what I am grateful for and writing out my affirmations, and then sit down for a 5-10 minute meditation. My biggest self-care effort has been only working 4 days per week. I do not work on Wednesdays – instead, I use this day to focus on my mental health and my hobbies. I go to therapy and take pottery classes! That time away from work in the middle of the week re-energizes me and makes me far more productive on the other days of the week. Read more>>

I love the definition of “self care” by Dr. Pooja Lakshmin, who explains that bubble baths and buying supplements off Instagram are not real forms of self-care. Instead, it’s the invisible work we all have to do on a daily basis to set ourselves up for success. For me, it’s setting boundaries and being able to deal with the guilt of disappointing other people. It’s developing self-compassion and resiliency against self-doubt. And most importantly, it’s defining my values and leading my life in a way that honors them. Read more>>

Being in entertainment business as a Latin dance teacher/performer it is vital to be in a good shape and have a high stamina. I remember before pandemic being overweight and having low energy while dancing at the socials. This would highly reflect on my business as I could not advertise classes properly nor could I get enough dance gigs. During the pandemic I had enough time to be alone and reflect on my life goals to understand that I had to channel my energy in different direction to improve my self-care as it was negatively impacting my life. Lately I’ve been very much into healthy living and the key to longevity. I have listened to numerous podcasts and read many books on the subject and find it fascinating. The science behind it is most intriguing. What I’ve learned so far and try to apply in my daily life is that there is nothing more important than exercise (cardio, weight lifting, balance, interval training) at least five times a week, the food you eat and meditation. I’m still learning to meditate. I am a very hyper person and it is extremely difficult for me to stay in one place for more than five minutes. Read more>>

In the content creation world I feel like many creatives don’t share a lot about how their role in their community affects them and how they see themselves which is why I’ve learned that self-care is crucial for my mental and emotional health just like everyone else! I always find myself going back into self-care when I’m facing inner dilemmas because it’s the main root to many of my life experiences and the results have been beautiful.  Read more>>

In regards to self-care, as we go through the seasons of life, we learn that self-care is more and more important every year. Early on I tackled my career with what I would call reckless abandon in the sense that I went in each day to grind as hard as I possibly could, work as hard as I possibly could, be fanatic in my work ethic and not take my foot off the gas at any moment. In looking around at others who pressed the gas pedal as hard as I did, I saw a lot of burnout, I saw many people’s careers burn out early and I saw the negative side of the insincerity of pushing that hard. The sun is beginning to set, and you see the sun’s reflection in a small pond. The birds are chirping, and you hear water trickling in the background. Everything is peaceful. Peace of mind, being in the moment, and every pore takes in vitamin C. This scene is a treasured moment I experienced at a nearby park as a teen. It’s when I began my journey of self-care. Self-care is something that I take seriously. Now that I am fifty something 😊 I have chosen to be intentional about listening to my body and my inner voice. It is important at any age to be aware of your capacity to do your best work and be your best self. This state is not necessarily something that someone else can tell you. It is something that an individual must learn to recognize in order to adjust the situation or scenario when needed. Someone can tell you when you seem to be functioning at a strong capacity but only that individual truly knows what feeds their spirit, their soul to be most effective. Read more>>

My self-care routine started the same way my business started – with sugar scrubs. As a broke law student, my classmates and I started DIY’ing gifts for each other. My gift to my pals, internship supervisors, family and friends was sugar scrubs. Because I could not afford luxe spa treatments, my exfoliation routine provided me with the necessary break from the rigors of studying without breaking the bank. Making sugar scrubs gave me the opportunity to be creative, something I do not always get to be as a lawyer and educator. Read more>>

I practice mindful meditation and the 4-7 8 breathing technique as a form of self-care. I have been practicing mindful meditation for the past few years, and I found that mindful meditation works to slow down my thoughts, especially when I am feeling stressed or overwhelmed. The 4-7 8 breathing technique involves breathing in for 4 seconds, holding the breath for 7 seconds, and exhaling for 8 seconds. This breathing pattern aims to reduce anxiety. This practice has not only helped me to absorb the day more fully but has allowed me the opportunity to stay present and to be able to focus. Read more>>

Since launching my self-care brand, Lunar Remedy, in November 2020 I’ve highlighted the importance of self-care in my life. Before losing my job in 2020 due to Covid-19, self-care was often neglected due to the demands of my past jobs, which involved long hours and working during weekends and holidays. This took a toll on my well-being, especially with the added responsibilities of being a parent. Read more>>

Self-care at my age, it’s not just a luxury; it’s survival mode. My monthly facials at Blue Water Spa (among other treatments) and sweating it out at OHM Fitness are my secret weapons. They don’t just keep me aging in reverse, but they help me nail down roles meant for 30-year-old roles. At 48, I look like I am in my thirties and I’ve got the energy to match which is a business necessity. I am always testing out new skincare and love Glo Skin Beauty, and Revitalash. Read more>>

As an Empath and Highly Sensitive Person, self-care is a non-negotiable. In fact, I focus on creating a self-care lifestyle to fill my cup FIRST. Picking up energy and emotions from others, it’s been a critical lifestyle to learn and now teach to others. While the practices themselves are simple, it’s hard to learn how to choose your wellbeing first in today’s society. I practice many things for self-care: nature-connected living – living in tune with the rythyms and pace of the earth, energy management – knowing how to move the energy I take on as well as my own, boundaries and investing in support are some of my favorite self-care practices. Self-care is not just about indulging in facials, spa treatments and enjoying delicious food from local restaurants. It also involves taking care of your inner self and mental health. Journaling helps me connect with myself, increase self-awareness, and ask myself difficult questions. I transfer all the thoughts in my mind onto paper using pen and paper. If I’m outside without my journal, I use the notepad app on my phone to jot things down, which still helps. Read more>>

Our self-care regimen practices have expanded to include: ritual baths, spending time in nostalgia, poetry, journaling, writing, painting, morning prayer, solo date nights, and spa manicures. We value these many practices as opportunities to prioritize a healthy mind, body and spirit. As co-owners of a beautify brand, it is our priority to create products that help our customers create that regime of their own with pieces that make them feel pampered, true to their best selves and cared for in a hectic chaotic world where we can often lose ourselves in the day-to-day. In the same way for ourselves, our own self-care has has an impact of enabling us to remain balanced and thoughtful as creatives, business partners and co-owners. Read more>>

Truth be told, daily self-care routines aren’t my jam. My ADHD makes consistency a bit…non existent. Instead, I’ve discovered that brief moments of self care throughout the day have a bigger impact. Regular body check-ins are my go-to – I used to bulldoze through hunger, fatigue, or overwhelm, but now I make it a point to listen to my body, take action, and get back in the groove. Read more>>

I write affirmations and post them on social media to not only encourage myself , but to encourage others as well. I’ve noticed by making this a lifestyle has helped me through some tough times in my life where I could’ve went left, but maintaining a positive mindset has truly kept me encouraged along my journey. I also noticed that I respond in a more positive way than I use to when things don’t go as planned. I just have to remind myself that God’s timing is best. Read more>>
