There is thankfully a growing realization that effectiveness and self-care are linked and that investing in self-care can be massively improve productivity.

I meditate every day. I lay on a Bemer blanket (for horses) while I meditate. This is nourishing for the mind, body and soul. I have learned to allow and how to manifest from the practice of meditation. Learning to quiet the mind is the most beneficial practice I have experienced.. I am starting a meditation program at the ranch so others can experience this too. Read more>>

Self-care is a vital part of my everyday life. I became deeply rooted in my self-care journey after overcoming an intense battle with severe social anxiety.
With the help of an incredible therapist at that time, I was able to develop the tools I needed, as well as embrace the tools I already had to deal with stress and anxiety. For example, spending time in nature, meditation, writing in my journal, being creative, exercise, and doing things that I enjoy and love. Read more>>

For me, My self-care is deeply holistic. It’s not just about physical or mental health—it’s about creating a balance that honors all aspects of my identity. I believe self-care looks different for everyone, it all depends on where you are in your life. In addition to intentional habits, my Self-care top 4 that I have incorporated into my life are therapy, bodily movement, and connection embracing the power of the reset. Read more>>

When I was around 30, I re-discovered the joys of exercise, aka movement, for the first time since puberty flattened me. AND I realized how vital exercise was to my sanity, mood, outlook, and ability to be still long enough to create. When I was 30, I was in the worst relationship of my life with a man whose every word made me ashamed. And with whom I spoke of marriage. Oy vey. But he went off on a halibut boat in Alaska for a month and I started to run around the neighborhood. And it became a daily thing–a habit I found the willpower to continue ever since. And everything got better. Read more>>

Years ago, I was a minister, and I was completely burned out. I believed at the time that I was only doing my best if I was completely depleted, a sign that I was serving everyone around me to my fullest. But that is a lie. In order to show up in healthy and helpful ways, we have to take care of ourselves. I’ve learned that regularly getting quiet alone time is critical for my self-care. This can be quite a challenge with two elementary-aged kids! But taking a moment to breathe or meditate in my room, or sitting outside on the porch to enjoy a cup of coffee have become sacred moments for me. Additionally, my body needs gentle movement every day. My favorites are gentle yoga and walking. These both soothe my nervous system and instantly help me feel better. It might only be a 5 minute walk or a couple of yoga poses, but I try to fit in some movement every day. Perhaps my biggest self-care practice, though, is self-kindness. Read more>>

Self-care has been a cornerstone of my personal and professional effectiveness. For the past 10 years, I’ve embraced a plant-based, organic, and mostly sugar-free diet. This lifestyle has given me sustained energy, better focus, and overall health. It’s incredible how nourishing your body properly can set the foundation for every other aspect of life.
I also prioritize activities that nurture my mind and spirit. I’m an avid reader, constantly building knowledge and expanding my perspective through books. This not only boosts my creativity but also enhances my decision-making. Read more>>

Staying active is the number one self-care priority that I don’t allow to waver much from week to week. This started when I was in the corporate world as a Director in Supply Chain at Target’s HQ in Minneapolis. I made the expectation clear that I would block my calendar with a recurring appointment from Noon-1:30pm to go to classes at the gym. At the end of the day, your mental and physical health is so much more important than any fire drill that may pop up at work on a given day. No matter what industry or role you’re in, there’s an unlimited amount of work you could always be doing if you let yourself get sucked in. The key for me to unlock the work/life balance I wanted was finding a way to set the expectation that I’m going to unplug when it generally worked for our team’s day-to-day, and stick to it. That way I never let myself skip a weekday workout to clear my head and de-stress. Read more>>

For self-care, I prioritize moments that nurture both my mental and physical well-being, and one of the ways I do this is by incorporating my press-on nails from Daringly Posh into my routine. Taking the time to apply a fresh set of nails is more than just about looking good—it’s about creating a space for me to slow down, focus on myself, and recharge. It’s a small but powerful ritual that brings me confidence and a sense of accomplishment. Read more>>

After having three kids in four years, life became beautifully chaotic. My third arrived right in the middle of the pandemic, and I found myself struggling with postpartum depression and anxiety. I realized that pushing through wasn’t an option for me if I wanted to be the best mother, business owner, and version of myself that I could be. That’s when self-care became non-negotiable in my life. Read more>>

I have two secrets to success that are related to self-care: Saying “No” and scheduling and taking time to rest. It is easy for a highly capable person to say yes to too many things. I decided years ago to stop attending meetings where the lead would ask for volunteers – my hand goes up far too easily! Scheduled rest is critical. Swimming and reading are two of my favorite forms of rest. Some of my best ideas have come to me in the middle of swimming pool! Read more>>

For self care I practice yoga a few times per week, exercise regularly, attend therapy sessions, and engage in reiki energy work. The yoga and reiki in particular have helped me connect back to my body and become connected once again to spirituality. Ultimately, that has impacted my relationship with myself in a very positive way which increases my effectiveness in everything else I do. Read more>>

For self-care, I focus on activities that align with my lifestyle and goals. Spending quality time with my daughter and family helps me stay grounded and reminds me of my “why.” I also enjoy creating mini vlogs or other content, as it allows me to express myself creatively while capturing moments that matter. Journaling and planning out my goals, whether it’s for my business or personal life, help me stay organized and motivated. Read more>>

Self-care has been an ongoing journey for me, and I continually find new practices to help me achieve more peace and balance in my everyday life. One important aspect is therapy. I typically meet with my therapist once a week or every other week. I’ve found that having an objective individual to both support and challenge me with alternative perspectives has made a huge difference in how I can show up for myself, process difficult situations, and strengthen my relationships with others. I’ve also been working on my self-compassion. Whether that means having more patience with myself, taking a step back when my nervous system becomes overstimulated, or completely acknowledging and feeling my emotions, I’ve made a conscious effort to change my habits and responses to certain situations. My self-care practices vary depending on the day and my needs for that day. There are certain practices that I keep up with religiously like my skin care routine. In the morning I wake up, brush and floss my teeth, clean my face, and apply witch hazel and moisturizer. For the rest of my skin, I apply a homemade body spray comprised of witch hazel and my favorite essential oils. Before going into the kitchen, I take time to clear off our bedside tables. I save any leftover water and tea for my plants in a watering can. Then I go into the kitchen, strain my overnight brewed herb, fill up on water, and prepare myself a nourishing breakfast. When considering the impact of self-care on my effectiveness, as well as how I’ve persisted through challenges with mental illness, I realized these two ideas are deeply connected. Anxiety and self-doubt have been constants in my adult life. At times, my anxiety has felt overwhelming, affecting my relationships with friends and family. Other times, I’ve managed to keep it under wraps so well that I’m fairly certain no one noticed. Read more>>
