I’m all about self care! Doing something for my mind and body on a regular basis, not only helps me feel better physically, but mentally. I’m not “treating myself”, I’m taking care of myself. My all time favorite things to do for self care are massage, eyelash extensions, and skin care. I know that I don’t always have the greatest posture or body mechanics when I’m working, so regular massage really helps to keep me feeling good.  Read more>>

It occurred to me that one day when it was a lunch break on the set, my director saw me, her 1st AD, laying on a foldable platform cart, utilizing the mechanic rotation of the cart’s wheels to slowly roll my waist and stretch my shoulder. She commented that, you work very hard on taking care of yourself. I felt surprised because my behavior was purely out of instincts. My shoulder was so sore that it stole my concentrate. Well, at the end of the day, my director joined me, we helped each other to massage. Read more>>

When I reflect on this year, I’d say that a huge lesson I’ve learned is how to “make time” away from creating. I specifically use the phrase “make time” because for me to care for my mental and physical, I have to consciously carve out time when I can rest and recuperate. These self-care days can take various forms—whether it’s engaging in a rejuvenating exercise class, organizing my workspace, or indulging in a day of video games. Read more>>

I am someone who is constantly surrounded by people all day long, so I love stealing those few moments alone when I can. When I need to get away from work for a while, I find myself more often than not hanging out with my daughters. They make me laugh and unwind more than anything else can with their goofy personalities. Read more>>

I think this is something that many people struggle with in today’s culture, including myself. But in a way, I am in an industry of self care! If I don’t practice it myself, if makes it hard for me to encourage people to make their health a priority when it comes to exercise and nutrition. Self-care for myself includes working out of course, in particular lifting weights. Read more>>

As a business owner, it’s easy to burn the candle at both ends juggling multiple responsibilities, which can lead to burnout if not managed well. Taking care of oneself is crucial for leading a productive and successful life. In my opinion, self-care starts with the mind – keeping it positive is imperative. While overthinking can be both a strength and a weakness, it’s essential to set boundaries and prioritize things that add value to our lives. Read more>>

For me self care is multifaceted. Consider Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Assuming the basic human needs at the bottom of the pyramid are taken care of, then you build to the top of self-actualization and transcendence. The biggest idea to ensure your needs are met is to be intentional about them. Nurturing your love relationships and friendships, self-love, and religion or spirituality all take intentional care. I’d have to say some of my favorite things to do for self-care would be either getting out in nature or having a true “self-care” day at home. Camping is a wonderful way to unwind and get away. The tranquility of lying in a hammock with a good book, listening to nature or some quiet music; But also, making a warm Epsom-salt bath with your favorite essential oils, lighting a candle and an incense and turning on some music or a favorite movie/show can be quite relaxing and enjoyable (especially when it’s cold outside).  Read more>>

Self-care is something that takes priority in my life alongside my family. Every morning I start my day off with lighting a candle, pouring a hot cup of tea, and journaling all my thoughts, things I am grateful for and whatever else comes to mind. This puts me in high spirits for the day and reminds me of all that I do have. Read more>>

It took a long time for me to know exactly what I need to keep stable in my life. A lot of people depend on me for their livelihood and in order for me to meet those expectations, I have to always make sure I am living authentically and taking care of me first. This means knowing when I can pull back and when I need to dive in and work harder. Read more>>
